I wish I had an answer. This mask tool sucks. Its great (reportedly) for motion, but if you just need cut a section out, like for Chroma Key its awful. Still trying to figure out why they couldn’t add a feature without removing the way it also worked before. Freaking Adobe...always making everything needlessly complicated

Sorry you’ve been experiencing issues. We need a few more details to help like hardware and operating system information. Please see How to Report a Problem.

Are you in Multicam View or Comparison View at all? Are the masks being created despite not seeing an outline? (Are they showing up under the Effect Controls panel under Video > Unassigned Masks, when the clip is selected and are you able to select the masks from there?)

Would you be able to share a screen recording of your workspace when creating a mask?

2026 is a mess. I’m reverting to the 2025. Simple shape masks not working how they should….ie nothing disappearing or being masked… My LUTs aren’t working.. it keeps reverting to BMPCC instead of FUJI.. what a mess.

Those instructions are not useful AT ALL. I went step-by-step and it still didn’t work. There was nothing wrong with the way it worked. You guys just made it worse. Add functionality without removing other functionality. Nobody has ANY idea what an ‘unassigned mask’ is. FFS.

Is this specific to Object masks? If yes, can you check that Object Mask was added during the install? You can check this on Creative Cloud by clicking on the more actions button and selecting “Get add-ons”
