Mask tracking zero progress

Hello,

I applied the Gaussian Blur effect on a video clip and used the pen tool to apply a mask around a number plate. I then hit the play button to track the mask as the car moves but the progress bar doesn't show any progress. When I select "Stop" I am then unable to select track again as all the buttons are greyed out.

I'm using M1 Max so I don't think it is an isssue with memory.

Thanks,

Right and then deal with that breaking constantly unfortunately

Still a bug in v24.3.0 -- absolutely disables any kind of intelligent masking workflow -- Adobe, what gives?

Sane issue here

same issue.  v23.6.4 and v24.1

Mask will not track forward, even frame by frame.  The play / forward options grey out after one attempt and I need to delete the effect and re-apply to have another go at.

Ishan, Adobe Employees, it's been nearly two years since this was reported.  What's going on?  This is a big feature that we're paying for and the time we've wasted on this bug with blind trial and error and zero follow up from your camp is a bad look for Adobe.

This is one of the oldest bugs and the most annoying. I've had it for years now. Still today, it's happening to me. Restarting Premiere fixes it sometimes. or Reseting the workspace to a saved layout.

This is nuts and I can't believe a bug on such a prevalent effect has taken so long for Adobe to deal with! I am just learning Premiere and thought I was really messing up so it's at least a relief to find this thread.

Add a new mask, right click and cut, press original mask and start progress. Works for me as well. The person who found this out, bravo!

I was having the same issue, I fixed it by putting the clip on a video track with no other clips under or above it.

Backwords worked for me. Thanks!

I've been having this same issue for weeks now. I've found success if you nest the clip you are trying to do the motion tracking on. It seems to force it to work for some reason.
