Masking Tool is not working

When I try to use the Masking tool it takes ages for the software to understand that I want to use it, it doesn't appear on the clip that I want to mask to begin with, after a while it does but I need to click on the tool button like 59240845 times before it does. It really decreases my workflow and it becomes extreamly annoying, why did you even move it from the effect controls to begin with? I've noticed more people having the same issue, so please fix it

    Hi @Bente32563599v61s

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums. In order to better troubleshoot, we need to ask for a few more details, listed here from our bug report details.

    • Premiere Version: What is the exact Premiere version and build you’re using? Help > About Premiere or Premiere > About Premiere.
    • Setup/OS: Please specify Windows 11/10 or Mac, plus what macOS, along with driver version/build.
      • GPU Driver version/build(Windows only): We recommend updating to the most recent version; for NVIDIA users, we strongly recommend the Studio version of the driver.
      • Mac Chip (Mac Only): what M-series chip? If Intel, please include GPU.
    • Media Files: video, images, etc. and what types (can check under Media Properties)
    • Media Storage: Are your Scratch Disks set to your Documents folder or the same as project, and is this the same as the Media drive?

Also, if you could please let us know the following, this is also helpful to know:

    • Does it affect all projects or only some? What about new projects with a few sample clips?
    • Do you recall which Premiere this was last working in, and what might have changed? Any plugins, update to computer, etc.
    • When did the problem first begin?

Specific to the masking issue, we’d like to know if you are clicking Object Mask, or one of the Ellipse/Rectangle/Pen tools?

Could you maybe share a short screen recording showing us exactly what’s happening with selecting the clip, clicking the mask tool, and what appears in the Program Monitor and the mask effect controls?

Sorry for any frustrations, and we hope to help!
    Katie
