MOGRT Image Replacement is Broken in ME 24.6.1

I have a MOGRT that has an image replacement in it. Media Encoder 24.6.1 (Build 2) doesn't do the image replacement.

When I preview the image replacement in Premiere Pro, the image replacement is made just fine.

When I export it directly from Premiere Pro itself, the image replacement is made just fine.

When I test the MOGRT image replacement in After Effects it works just fine.

When I "export to media encoder" the image replacement fails, and the box is empty. Happens with both .JPG and .PNG images.

Premiere Pro 24.6.1 (Build 2)

After Effects 24.6.1 (Build 2)

Media Encoder 24.6.1 (Build 2)

You're welcome, glad to hear it's working for you!

We also applied the fix to 25.1.0, so that will be available sooner to you when the next version releases, but glad you have a workaround for now.

@Theresa Rostek Thank you very much. I have installed and tested the beta on my older test project. Yes, it does seem to fix the problem, I get media replacement in both PP and AME. I specifically tested it with a version that included the use of the Izotope audio effects, and yes, it does work. Thanks!

That said, I'm removing the beta(s) and reverting to 25.0 as I'm way behind in my editing work and can't risk a beta. As I noted, I've found the workaround of only using Adobe audio effects to be sufficient.

Thank you and your colleagues for their work on this. I really appreciate it.

Chris

Hi @CLWill! Thanks again for the report!

Our team found the issue thanks to your information and implemented a fix available now  in Premiere Pro beta (25.2.0x22) and Media Encoder beta.

Please give it a try and let us know how it's working for you.

Best,
Theresa

Thank you for responding. Long reply (sorry).

The "import sequences natively" is (and has always been, as far as I know) on.

The things that were working in 25 were my test projects. And those didn't have the audio effects on the A1 audio channel. I didn't realize that was the difference.

I build everything from a single template project. It is a project I've had for some time, but I update it with each new PP version. It has all my settings built up, and a Vertical Sequence (for Socials) and a Horizontal Sequence (for YT, etc). Both of those sequences have the audio effects on A1 (my voice channel). As well as my captions settings, etc. etc. I simply copy that project, rename it, and start building the new video.

I have been happily working on vertical videos for the last few weeks, and I don't use the MOGRT that does image replacement on those. That's why I didn't see this issue. As I said, my MOGRT tests that appeared to work weren't built from that template, and therefore didn't have the audio settings.

My audio track as five effects: the builtin parametric equilizer and the compressor part of Dynamics. I was also using three plugins from Izotope: all in their RX9 suite: a denoiser, a deesser, and a dereverber. I removed the Izotops plugins one at a time, testing as I went, and when I got rid of the last one -- boom, Media Replacement started working again. Even with the eq and compressor still there.

For my workaround, I have spent some time replicating my Izotope effects in the native PP effects. I still have five effects on the audio track, but they are all PP native. And Media Replacement works fine.

I hope this provides enough info, let me know what else you need.

Hi @CLWill,

Thanks for the new report.

First, please ensure that the "Import Premiere Pro sequences natively" button is checked in AME prefs and let me know if that does or does not fix the issue (without audio)

Since you saw it working for a little bit, was that a new project or an upgraded project?

Are new or upgraded projects failing now?

Which 3rd Party Audio Effects are you using?

Thanks!
Theresa

Dear me, I have discovered that I can get Media Replacement to reliably fail if I'm using 3rd Party Audio Effects in the Track mixer. Everything encodes fine in PP25, but when I try to encode in AME25, the Media Replacement fails.

I don't think this is a 3rd party issue, otherwise why would it work in PP? But to avoid it, I'll be using the Audition equivalents of the plugins. Ugh.

@Theresa Rostek I spoke too soon. This is now broken again in AME 25.0 (Build 54).

I have a simple test, 5 secs of video that has an AE Image Replacement, it encodes fine in PP 25.0, it doesn't do the image replacement in AME 25.0.

Next steps to report this?

Final note from me, this is fixed in 25.0. Thanks again for your help.
