Mogrt missing font icon triggered but nothing is missing. - ‘Sync Missing Fonts…’ does nothing

Premiere - 25.3.0
AfterEffects - 25.3.2
Apple M2 Pro, OS Sequoia 15.5 (24F74)

The [T] missing fonts icon appears even when the only font is installed and renders correctly and 'Sync Missing Fonts...' does nothing.

I have Adobe Fonts turned off to ensure fonts I include with my mogrt all work and attach correctly.

To narrow down this issue and find the offending font, I created a sample mogrt with two layers(a text layer and a solid) and an empty dropdown control.

After installing the mogrt in Premiere, the [T] icon appears, indicating a missing font. The 'Sync Missing Fonts...' menu is not greyed out, but nothing happens when selecting it.  The only font used in the mogrt displays correctly in the Program Monitor when on the timeline.

I have tried this with a number of fonts and variable fonts seem to trigger it more often than static fonts, but I cannot find reliable pattern.

My intent is to sell my mogrts and I reallly want to avoid the perception of errors in the final product. I have attached a screenshot, the offending font, and aep file used to create the mogrt.

Hi @jamieclarke ,

Just to be clear. I am not using an Adobe font in this mogrt. I have Adobe Font syncing turned off. This is a font stored in my user folder not managed by Adobe. Thanks!

Hi @Truckee Lynch - I found a bug filed about this The Missing Font icon doesn't disappear after Adobe Font syncs.

Hi @jamieclarke
Thanks for the reply. Here is detailed report.
Issue - Adobe Premiere displays missing font icon despite font being installed and displaying correctly.
Steps to reproduce

  1. Turn off Adobe Fonts. Creative Cloud App, Settings/Services/Adobe Fonts
  2. Install font
  3. Install mogrt
  4. Place installed mogrt on timeline to ensure text is displaying correctly
  5. Select 'Sync Missing Fonts...' from contextual menu

Expected result - No missing font icon, greyed out 'Sync Missing Fonts...' menu item

Actual result - Missing font icon, 'Sync Missing Fonts...' menu item is selectable but nothing happens when selected.

Screen recording - See above screenshot.

Adobe Premiere version - 25.3.0 (Build 84)

Adobe After Effects version - 25.3.2 (Build 2)

Operating System - MacOS 15.5 (24F74)

GPU Driver - N/A
Video format - N/A

Comparative Information... - It affects particular projects when using particular fonts. The problem came about when refining a mogrt and ensuring all used fonts were included. Since the 'Sync Missing Fonts...' wasn't working, I created a series of text mogrts to determine which font was triggering the missing font icon. I then tried to find a similar alternative font and the same thing happened.

Re your question. That's curious. Did you turn off Adobe Fonts first? In other circumstances I have noticed problems when a downloaded font has the same name as one previously downloaded from Adobe. It can cause problems when attempting to connect to one downloaded from another source. I believe this occurs because the PostScript Name's don't match even though if the name and font does. The PostScript Name of the font used in the mogrt is "BodoniModa-Italic", I have double checked Font Book and the info panel in Premiere and that name matches. You can also see from the screenshot that the font is displaying correctly and only uses that one font.

Hi @Truckee Lynch -   Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.

Please see, How to Report a Problem.

I installed your mogrt it does seem to be using the font that you have chosen.  Are you seeing a different font?

Sorry for the frustration.
