Multicam interface lags

  • Issue – starting from premiere 25.1 changes to recordered multicam provoces serious lags
  • Steps to reproduce  Record multicam, using shortcut keys move to any of edits, using shortcut keys switch previously recorded angle.
  • Expected result  Immidiate change of angle in preview multicam window
  • Actual result  Several seconds of premiere thinking and only then angle changes
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version – 25.5
  • Operating system – Windows 11 Pro 24H2
  • GPU driver version (Windows only) – 581.29
  • Video format - UHD with 720p proxies

Video attached shows about a second long lag. I'm sorry I have to blur the video, but you can see the moment when I switch camera in the history panel and then when yellow square changes its position. I also attach screenshot of your internal utility with frame prefetch latency when this lag happens.
Second similar problem happens when you press keyboard shortcut to extend the edit and it waits several seconds to update the edit in playback inspite the edit is moved in timeline immidiately. All those lags happen only in playback window.

If it helps I can run any debugging tests that you ask me.

Thank you!

Thanks @jamieclarke . After Resetting cache and plugin loading cache, looks like Pr 25.5 is fast and fluid again. (Fist quick check)

Second check using multicam: Not useable at all. Back to 25.1.

Sad.

Hi @jamieclarke I've tried making new proxies, quarter and half resolution QT Proxy and making source files offline. Same lags

Hi @Christiaan1 - Can you install 25.5 and then hold down "SHIFT" while launching Premiere and check the boxes
"Clear media cache files"
"Reset plugin loading cache"

Thanks for your reply @jamieclarke

But why is 25.1 super fluid. And 25.5 very laggy?
Even with no multi camera sequence.
Something must have been changed that was not for the better...
When I want to edit fast and fluid I install 25.1. All files fast!
When cutting has been done, I install 25.5 for collor correction and rendering.

This should not be a normal workflow. Can you help?

(Or when needed, can I help find trouble shooting or bug squasing? )

Kind regards, Chris.

Hi @Christiaan1 - Thank you for the screenshots.  Your files are not hardware accelerated with your system I would use the proxy workflow in premiere and use the transcodes which are H.264 8bit 420 files which will be hardware accelerated.

You can run the beta (currently 25.6) and the stable build (currently 25.5) at the same time.

Hi @Jack23953622aaql - Do you have the same issue if you create your proxies from within Premiere Pro using the Proxy workflow?

Can you make sure that your files are actually pointing to the proxies in the metadata display you can choose "Proxy File Path". and that you have the proxy icon toggled.

Hi @jamieclarke ,

I have uploaded the files you asked for.

And Yes, I do think it are the sony M2TS files that are slowing the system down. Multicam, and not multicam.

Best regards. Christiaan

I have to work on a multicam project. Switching between 25.1 and 25.6 now.
Is there a way to install them both at the same time?

Here are my PC specs.

Motherboard MAG x570S Torpedo MAX MS-7D54
Graphics: GeForce RTX3080
3 Monitors Connected
Drivers: Newest NVIDIA Studio Driver

I hope this helps.
Questions? Just send me a mail.

Thanks Jaimie for anwsering.
It is a 5 camera project.
Only Sony Camera's:
FX6,  2 x FS5, FS100, FS700
Newest NVIDIA Studio Drivers

The .M2TS files from the FS100 and FS700 Show up SLOW when asking for media file properties!!! Maybe this helps.

Here are the file properties:

Fast showing properties.

Showing the properties for this file took a litle longer. Was not instant. Maybe this helps
