New Dip To Black is not totally black

Hi.
The new Film Impact FX and Transitions are great. But I have an issue with the Dip To Black transition.
By default, it is not 100% black at the middle of the transition. In order to have a dip to full black, I need to tweak the Transition Timing “end” parameter to 97%.
Can someone try and replicate this issue?

@maximeb24899079 I see this happen if the duration of the transition cannot be evenly divided by 2. For example, if Dip to Black is 25 frames long you will see this but not if it is 24 frames or 26 frames. Both 24 and 26 can be evenly divided by 2 while 25 cannot, thus the issue.

Wow, yes that’s it!
Do you have an explanation for this behavior? Seems like a bug to me.

It´s probalby coded and tested with only NTSC frame rates in mind, iow 24 fps, 30 fps, 60 fps and since they all divide evenly with 2 no one notice this issue. It should have been coded with PAL frame rates in mind as well, such as 25 fps and made sure that frame 12 or 13 is 100% black since frame 12,5 does not exist.

It´s a design flaw that becomes a bug and if i remeber correctly Dip to Black has always worked like this.

Thank you for those additional details and for the screenrecord. As the team attempts to reproduce the issue, can you please confirm the following:

When the transition timing ends at 100%, does rendering the sequence change the issue result? (Sequence (top bar) // Render In to Out)
Do the clips have enough extra frames (padding/handles) for the transition?
Was there a previous version of Premiere where this transition was working as needed for your project, or is this the first time occurrence?

No, rendering doesn’t change the result. Yes, the clips have handles. Previously, I was using the now legacy dip to black. Legacy works as expected.

What are the specs of the source footage where the transition issue occurs?
Are clips layered atop of one another at the point of the transition fade?
Do you have any other alpha graphics overlaying the clip?
Are there any other effects applied to the clip where the issue occurs?
Would it be possible to share a screenshot or a screen record of the timeline?

Hi @Jonathan+Editor.
It happens both on ProRes 422 HQ and H264 files. It happens at the cut between two clips layered on the same track. No alpha graphics overlaying the clips and no FX on the clips themselves. Just straight cuts.
