New Keyframes on 'Effect Controls' panel don't carry over the bezier curves of previous keyframes.

Not 100% sure this is a bug, but it seems the behaviour of bezier keyframes has changed. Before Premiere 26.0, if I created a “position” keyframe and applied ease in and out bezier curves, the new keyframes created within that clip would also have ease in and out curves. It doesn’t do that anymore, a new keyframe seems to default to a bezier but not ease in and out. This is problematic as I have presets saved with pre-existing keyframes set to ease in and out, and I apply them to hundreds of clips within a session. Now I have to manually add the ease in and out curves to any new position keyframes within those clips.

Here's a video of the process. You can see me dragging the picture on the program panel to create a new position keyframe. Whilst the mouse cursor is pressed, you can see some sort of ease in and out bezier curve in effect under effect controls. As soon as I release the mouse button, it snaps into a weird and harsh curve. I then have to manually add ease in and out curves to those keyframes. Before version 26.0, bezier curves behaved differently.

@luis_4507 Note from engineering team: we are actively working on this bug. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and the time spent on testing this!

    Hi @luis_4507

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums! We are glad to see you here. Thanks for providing that video showing us what’s happening with your keyframes. I also see that you mentioned it working prior to Premiere v26.0, which is helpful to know. Would we be able to also take a look at your keyframing preset?

We do still need a few more details to try to help with the issue. Please see, How do I write a bug report?

Sorry for the frustration and hope we can help soon!
    Appreciate your post,
    Katie

    • Issue: New Keyframes on 'Effect Controls' panel don't carry over the bezier curves of previous keyframes.

    • Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Create a position keyframe within a clip.

    2. Right click and under temporal interpolation assign both “ease in” and “ease out”

3.Expand the dropdown arrow on the left of “position” to see the curves

    4. Create another position keyframe within that clip.

5.Change the position values of this new keyframe.

    • Expected Result: Previous to version 26.0 or so, the new keyframes would automatically carry over the same Bézier curve properties as the previous keyframes (in this case “easy in and out”).

    • Actual Result: Now it defaults to a different type of Bézier curve that behaves strangely. I have to manually add “ease in and out” to the new keyframes. Once I add “easy in and out”, the Bézier curves change dramatically.

    • Screen Recording: please see post above.

    • Premiere Version: 26.2.3

    • Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.3.1

My keyframing preset is simply one position keyframe about 50 frames before the start on the clip. This keyframe has “ease in” and “ease out” bezier added to it. I have made duplicates of this preset for different scale values, which allows me to reposition the framing via “anchor point” so I don’t have to reframe each time I punch in. I add my keyframing preset to hundreds of clips within an edit and then manually skip between all clips with “toggle direct manipulation (Transform)” active, so all I have to do to reposition the framing is so click and drag on the image on the Program panel. Having “ease in and out” curves assigned to all those new keyframes ensures the image moves smoothly for me.

    Thank you.

@luis_4507 Thank you for that additional helpful information and for submitting your bug report. We were able to reproduce this occurrence and made the team aware. We will update you once we learn more information on the issue about the bug being fixed.

I noticed in the screen recording that you select a set of keyframes to do Ease In and then select the same keyframes to apply Ease Out (which now changes them to Ease Out only) To note, you only need to apply Ease Out or Ease In to any given keyframe. You can do a set of two keyframes, one with Ease Out and the next one with Ease In or vice versa however for more of an Easy Ease style. Wanted to save you a step next time and advise that you pick which you’d like and apply just that one for each keyframe, but not both.

    Appreciate your time,
    Katie
