No Audio when importing MP4s in any Adobe software

I have some MP4s from my security system. I was going to use Adobe to edit down the clips, but when I import, there is only a weird "Scratch" sound in the very beginning, then the rest of the clip is silent. This sounds like it should be an easy task for Adobe to handle. Quicktime plays it fine.

OS/CPU/RAM/GPU ... type of media, both general format and the specific audio codec, and are any 3rd party plugins active?

MediaInfo is a free utility although the site is a mess with ads ... it's the general standard though for getting file header details. So install it, drag/drop one of those files onto the desktop icon for MediaInfo.

It will open a small window, select the "Tree View" , and grab a screen-shot of the full info, video and audio detail sections. Drag/drop that onto the text reply area so the image appears in the post.

Oh, and hopefully your Preferences for audio, the Default Input, is set to none ...

When I import long vídeos (it's happening only on +2hour videos) i get no audio on sequence or origin... but there's audio if i open it on VLC or Media Player... it's just Premiere.

AND if I open it on Premiere Pro 2024 IT WORKS FINE. So it's probably an issue of latest version.

If you want help, you must provide troubleshooting information ... or all we volunteers can say is "gee, that's unfortunate".

Hi @Randy_Martinez1973

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums!  We’re happy you’ve reached out.  Neil is correct, we need more info about the file you are trying to work with.   Please see: How do I write a bug report?  I hope we can help you soon.

"We" cant' help as we don't have a clue from your post what that audio is. Formats matter.

Download the MediaInfo free utility ... and yea, the website is a mess with a lot of things trying to sell you something but get only MediaInfo ... as that is the industry standard for sorting out what is in any video file for both video and audio metadata.

Install MediaInfo, then simply drag/drop a clip onto that icon on your desktop. It opens, select the "Tree View" option, and do a screengrab of the audio section.

Drag/drop that directly onto the text reply box area so it shows in the text and we don't need to click on it to see it.

Then we can advise.
