[Moderator: updated subject line for clarity]

I’m experiencing an issue when using Canon Cinema RAW Lite footage from the EOS C50 on my MacBook Pro M4 Pro running macOS Sequoia. Playback in Premiere Pro 25.6.x works correctly, but when pausing the timeline, some frames display black or magenta bars on teh bottom of the actual frame.

System Details:

  • Mac: MacBook Pro M4 Pro - Sequoia (latest build)

  • Premiere Pro: 25.6.3 (Build 2)

  • Canon Camera: EOS C50 Cinema RAW Lite (.CRM)

  • GPU Acceleration: Metal 3 (20-core GPU) [have tried other settings too]

  • RAM: 48 GB, Storage: 512 GB SSD System Firmware Ver: 13822.41.1  OS Loader Ver: 11881.140.96

    Additional Notes:

    • Occurs only with Canon RAW Lite from EOS C50. BRAW has no uased frame issues

    • Does not occur in Davinci Resolve
    • Playback in Premiere is fine — issue appears only when pausing playhead

    • Happens in Premiere Pro 25.6.3 and 26.x Beta

I'm loving the c50 and while the proxies workflow does work, it's not the efficiency I expect from Premiere. Please can someone restore my sanity..I'm far too old to learn Resolve as well as I know Premeire Thanks

Dang really? I tested open gate Raw LT from my C50 and it was working. You sure the update was successful?

just tested it after update. Still got the same results with my open gate raw footage from both my c50 and c400. Not fixed on my end.

anyone else try it?

Looks like they finally fixed this in the latest patch!

This seems like it's totally on Adobes end. Other software seems to be able to work the files without issues.
Not your cam or your computer.

any news?? got my c50 today and was shocked if my camera or computer was faulty.

Seconding this. What a bungled series of updates. For the last two years I was singing Premiere's praises, not experiencing many bugs at all, but this is a huge feature to be missing out on. Not sure I'll continue my subscription if I learn DaVinci.

Any updates here adobe?

Coming on a month of having this camera and not being able to natively edit these files on professional software is beyond frustrating.

Also anyone tested the open gate from c400. I'm hoping it's not the same. Just updated mine.

@18288432 I hear you on the deadline! A simple workaround is to convert the Cinema RAW Light files to another format. Canon has a free application - "Cinema RAW Development" - that can do this easily and quickly.

Fergus

If I only knew, I wouldn't have shot my work on c50. I don't know how to work around this! And the deadline is coming near.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to follow up on this thread. I have reached out directly via email to @9054884 to address his specific concerns about the timeline and the workarounds we initially proposed.

To reiterate, I understand the frustration that comes with not being able to use a new camera for professional work. As one of the Premiere Product Managers, I take full responsibility for prioritizing this support.

We are currently assessing the effort required to update Premiere to fully support the EOS C50 and EOS R6 Mark III Cinema RAW Light files. We understand the urgency, and we are working to define a clear timeline.

I will update this forum thread once that assessment is complete and I have firm news to share about a roadmap.

Thank you,

Fergus
