P: Effect Controls values reset when adjusted using Up/Down arrow keys in Premiere Pro 26.5.0

Thank you for stopping by the Premiere forums and providing that helpful screen recording about this Position change issue. We ran across a similar case yesterday and have filed a bug report, so it’s a known issue currently under investigation. We’ll be adding your details and recording to the report. 

Once we receive an update about that, we’ll return and relay that. As a temporary workaround, click dragging the slider or manually entering number adjustments should work. Apologies for any frustrations you’ve had with that.

Under Effect Controls, under Motion, when adjusting Position: With a clip selected, I double click on the y value, I adjust the y value by about 10 pixels by using the up/down arrow keys, I hit [enter] on my keyboard to confirm the change, I click on a different clip in the same timeline, I return to the prior clip where I adjusted the position, and the value has been reset to what it was before I made the change.

I demonstrate the issue twice in the attached video file.

There are no keyframes in any of the clips. I have the playback resolution set to ¼, paused resolution is set to full, and high quality playback is off. If I change the position by another means, such as dragging the clip around within the program monitor or manually typing in the entire y value, the issue does not seem to happen. Those methods are either too time consuming or do not allow me to make fine adjustments.

I have tried: restarting Premiere, restarting my computer, checking for software updates, checking for OS updates, clearing my media cache, et al. The issue still persists. I cannot find any documentation on this issue.

Computer Info: Macbook Pro Nov. 2024, Apple M4 Max Chip, 36GB Memory, MacOS 26.6.2 (25G83)

Software Info: Adobe Premiere Version 26.5.0 (Build 99)

I'm experiencing a persistent issue in Adobe Premiere Pro where values changed in the Effect Controls panel appear to update initially, but do not always commit correctly.

For example, if I change a clip's Motion > Scale from 99 to 101, Premiere displays 101. However, after selecting another clip and returning to the original clip, the Scale can revert back to 99.

This is affecting properties such as Motion/Scale and potentially other Effect Controls parameters.

The important distinction is that my actual timeline edits are not reverting. Clips are not moving, disappearing, or being restored. The problem appears specifically related to property/attribute values.

I've already tried troubleshooting steps including:

• Clearing Premiere Pro cache
• Resetting preferences
• Restarting Premiere Pro
• Checking keyboard shortcuts
• Checking for conflicting scripts/plugins/background processes
• Testing whether external automation was responsible

The issue still persists.

I also inspected an affected Premiere project and found something that may be useful for your engineering team.

After entering a new Scale value, the project data appeared to contain different values for the same property. For example:

StartKeyframe = 99
CurrentValue = 101

101 was the value entered and displayed in Effect Controls, while 99 remained the underlying/stored value that Premiere returned to after changing clip selection.

This makes it appear that Premiere is updating the UI/display value without consistently committing that value to the actual property.

I have also observed similar behaviour across multiple projects, so it does not appear to be isolated to a single corrupted Premiere project.

I'm currently using Premiere Pro 26.5.0 on macOS.

This is significantly affecting my professional editing workflow because I cannot reliably know whether values entered in Effect Controls have actually been committed. I'm concerned this could also cause incorrect values to appear in final renders.

Could you please:

1. Confirm whether this is a known Premiere Pro issue.
2. Let me know whether there is an existing bug/reference number for it.
3. Advise whether there is a reliable workaround.
4. Confirm whether I should downgrade to an earlier Premiere version until it is fixed.
5. Escalate this information to the Premiere Pro engineering team if necessary.

I can also provide a screen recording demonstrating the issue and affected project files/autosaves if that would help reproduce it.

Confirmed. Position, scale and rotation are (not sure how random) resetting after moving from the panel view of one clip to another, or as such. And yes, I am specifically hitting the enter button to confirm the new value change. But when I go back to the one clip, the bounding frame (as I am framing just outside the edge) is back inside the program view and transparency is shown (as I have this setting on). This is happening in more than one project.

Yup, same here on MacOs 15.7.9...extremely inconvenient given my workflow. Please fix asap.

The engineers are working on this issue. In the meantime, please adjust values using the Properties panel, enter changes manually, or use the slider as a current workaround.

I am experiencing the same bug when changing more or less any values in the Effects Controls Panel (eg crop, scale). The most annoying thing I am finding is that it applies the change visually, but when I click back on that clip, the values have reset so as soon as I change one again it goes back to a previous state. I often have this problem with Curves adjustment in Lumetri too. Very painful. I will add my vote to the other report too. Thank you for reporting!

Note, this also happens with the Lumetri Colour Panel

PLEASE FIX THIS! It took me years to figure out that it was simply because I was using the arrow keys to make adjustments!
