P: Glitching playback, including green flashes, during playback and export of 10-bit 4:2:2 media on Windows

We're receiving reports of customers in Premiere v26.5 having glitching issues, such as green flashes, during playback and exports.

The issue appears to be specific to media that is:

  • Long GOP
  • Recorded in the MXF container
  • 10-bit 4:2:2
  • Recorded using a Canon camera, including the EOS R5 C, EOS C50, EOS C70, EOS C80, and EOS C400

If you are having this issue with a file that doesn’t match this description, we are eager to hear from you.

We are currently investigating with a top priority to fix this. For now, the temporary workaround is to roll back to v26.3.2. Apologies for any frustrations with this and appreciate your patience while we investigate.

Thanks!
Katie

    Hi all,

We have identified the cause of this problem and fixed it. A patch for v26 that includes this fix will be available very soon, likely in less than one week.

The fix is also now in Premiere Beta v27.0, build 57 or higher. While we do not suggest customers use beta for production, it is safe to install the beta alongside v26 if you would like to test the fix yourself.

Some customers in this thread have said that rolling back to a version of Premiere v26.x before v26.5.x did not fix the problem - even with the older version, green flashing was still seen in the media. If you’re experiencing this, please hold down the shift key and launch Premiere. In the Reset options dialog that appear, check the box to clear the media cache.

    Regards,

    Fergus

I believe I am experiencing the same issue… I recorded my footage in raw with my iPhone 17 Pro and the Blackmagic app (directly on my ssd). I am using the proxy file, and I immediately noticed the green shade *only* when exporting in H264. It's very noticeable because my footage is showing waves hitting the shore. The weird thing is you can’t see it while working in the project. → I just tried exporting in .mov (Quicktime), it’s extremely heavy (9go compared to 500mb with h264) but the green shades are not showing anymore!!!

Sad to say I am also experiencing this… We shoot CLOG 3 footage in 4k, on Canon R5C. I look forward to Adobe sorting this issue out. It also exports with the green flickers

I’m experiencing the same issue. After updating Premiere Pro to versions 26.5.0–26.5.1, I get very severe, random green-screen flickering when working with footage shot on a Canon EOS C70.

The affected media is C-Log 2 footage in an MXF container: 3840 × 2160, 10-bit, 4:2:2, Long GOP.

I had already encountered this issue while testing the Premiere Pro Beta version. After upgrading from Premiere Pro 26.3.2 to 26.5.0, the same random green flickering problem appeared in the release version as well.

This is a very serious issue and makes the footage difficult or impossible to edit reliably. I hope Adobe can investigate and fix it as soon as possible. Thank you.

So, when I tried rolling back to a version before v26.5, Premiere says that it can’t open because the project was made from a newer version. So I am literally stuck. My job is on the line!

If you have access to your older autosaves folder, I would suggest pulling a project from there from a created time before the upgrade. Last resort can be exporting an EDL from the current Premiere for import into the earlier Premiere. Are you going back to 25.6.6 or 26.3?

I tend to duplicate the project once a week and version it up using the date if I’m working in a solo project. I’ve seen corrupted bins and projects from Final Cut, Avid, Pro Tools, and older versions of Premiere before, so it’s made me a bit paranoid. We are sorry for this inconvenience and are urgently working on this issue.

Hi. All my footage turned green today after the great update. Rolled back to previeus version and the issue is there as well. I need the app for work and as a client this is unacceptable as adobe is not cheap.

Have you tried Premiere Pro 26.2.2 (Build 3)?
For me, this was the last working version.

    I have the same issue.

For me, rolling back to Premiere Pro 26.3.2 did not resolve the issue. I still experienced green frames during playback.

The newest working version I found is Premiere Pro 26.2.2 (Build 3). In that version, my Canon EOS R5 C MXF footage with AVC Long GOP, 10-bit, and 4:2:2 plays correctly without recurring green frames.

I experienced the issue in both version 26.5.1 and version 26.3.2.

The issue is even WORSE when rolling back to 26.3.2. I believe this is because the project was created within a more recent version of Premiere, because the rolled back version works fine with MXF footage in a project I created on 06/12/2026.

Attached is a screen recording of the horrendous issues I’m now seeing in 26.3.2 instead of the intermittent green flashes in 26.5 and 26.5.1.

I can report the same issue with Canon C50 MXF long GOP 10 bit 4:2:2 on my home system Windows 11 Nvidia 4080 Super.

But, my work computer is NOT having this issue with the same exact footage.

    t’s a Windows 11 Nvidia 5080

Both systems are on the latest Nvidia studio driver 616.92
