P: OMF Export from Premiere Not Working

Running on Premiere Pro Version 25.1.0 (Build 73)

When I import OMF file from Premiere, it's only getting one audio track and layering it to several audio tracks. I'm opening the OMF on Audition. But when my collegue exports the same OMF from Premiere, when I open it on Audition it's correct (all the tracks are there with the correct audio). I've tried making a new project, exporting separate wav files then putting them on a new sequence, nothing works.

IsIs there anyone at Adobe addressing the complaints about the OMF export bug? After all, we are customers discussing this among ourselves instead of with a competent person to resolve the issue.

We are currently using the "open Premiere project in Audition OMF export" maneuver, which is working. Still would be nice to go directly from Premiere.

Adobe team... can you at least update us as to where you are on fixing this?

It appears that in the latest release, there are problems with OMF export. If I export as "Trimmed Audio," the omf contains the start of each audio file in every instance on the timeline (when opened in Audition, I have had similar complaints from a ProTools user).

The workaround I am using is to export an OMF with Complete Audio. I'm in Windows 11, but this didn't start until the most recent update.

Hi @JohnMonaghan

yes this is a known issue and I am merging you to the other posts on this. The team is aware.

Thank you

I now have 6 different editors that have sent me OMFs over the last few weeks, and I've had to resort to asking for them to bounce and send full-length untreated audio stems, and pray that their edit points, keyframes, and crossfades aren't sloppy...  Not cool...

We'll try the "Hey, sorry to keep being a bother, but could you monkey around in Audition and export from there?" workaround...

(Sorry if I offended any monkeys...)

I know. I agree.

I produce audio and video. That's the main prob.

8 ch.  Or more. Anyways omf should work.

The problem with exporting in XML and consolidate or copy audio files separately is that I am working on a 30 minute TV show with 8 tracks of sound design. That would not be a feasable workflow

There is always a solution to export in XML and consolidate or copy audio files separately.

Hi,

Actually OMF doesn't work well because Avid didn't develop it any further and as such it's an old format. However, regardless of everything it's still very useful because unlike the AAF format you don't need video and everything can be in one file. Premiere 24 worked with omf files normally, but the problem was that Audition didn't open all omf files properly. It writes an error in AIFF audio formats. NO, in Cubase or Nuendo all omf files open without problems. I read that Audition had problems recognizing mono and stereo tracks from Premiere. Now Premiere 25.0 first version works just as well with omf files, but Premiere 25.1 doesn't work. It totally mixes up the audio when opening omf files anywhere. It even sometimes writes an error when creating omf files. I think it's a bug that they have to fix in the next version. I went back from Premiere 25.1 to Premiere 25.0

Sorry, but its pretty damn clear. Export of OMF is broken, and it broke after updating to 25.1. Plenty of people have confirmed this as well. It seems to be independent of operating system, codec, etc etc.

The problem in this new version of Premiere Pro is exporting *.omf file.

The same exported *.omf once opened in cubase is all mixed up and unusable. So I' cant do an audio production of the edited video.

Can you please fix this problem? The only solution now is to downgrade to the other version of Premiere.

Thanks
