P: Premiere Pro - Type Tool and Captions

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble with using the Type Tool and the Captions within the Text Panel.

This has happened in the past couple of days or at least, it's when I have noticed.

When the Type Tool is selected and when I click in the Programm Panel, like usually to type text nothing happens.

A red line now appears at the top and across the said panel. I am still able to drag a box but nothing happens after that.

Likewise with the Text panel and the captions. When I create a new caption track, and create a caption, I am able to create it and type in it, but nothing appears.

I've tried uninstalling the 25.1 version and re-installling - Nothing.

I've tried installing the 25.0 version and the same problem - Nothing.

I've tried creating a new project and opening an older project - Nothing.

Lastly, I have also tried turning my Mac off and turning back on - Nothing.

In the 24.6.4 version, it works but ideally I'd like to be using the most updated version.

I would appreacite any help, screengrab provided.

Cheers

Felipe

Just had this issue and was insanely difficult to find a fix. Just to repeat - removing all adobe fonts fixed the issue. There's a way that you can bulk remove it so that you're not individually removing tons of fonts (in my case 500+). For some reason while the bug was happening when you made the font extremely big (400+ in scale) you could see it just barely and then any smaller than that it disappeared.

It was across every project I had with captions or graphics. So hopefully this gets rectified in new updates because I've deleted a bunch of stuff, removed preferences and wasted a whole bunch of time lol

No matter what I do, text won't show in the program panel.

It shows in properties and the graphics. I checked the color and all the properties and everything seems fine.

Even if I drag a template to the timeline, the placeholder text won't appear. It's so frustrating!!

Text layers not visible in program monitor or in the exported file. I tried opacity and sizes etc...

Also reinstalled twice.

What could be the problem?

Hi @SM24monkeys - We’re currently tracking this issue and I’ll merge your thread with the primary report. Could you share your system specifications and the version of Premiere Pro you’re using?

In the meantime, some users have reported that removing all fonts from Adobe Fonts via the Creative Cloud app resolves the issue. If you’re able to try that, please let us know if it helps in your case.

Hi, I'm back.
As mentioned by @craig_6698, removing all Adobe fonts solved the issue, but I had to upgrade to the latest version, which is Premiere 25.2.3. I tried this method on Premiere 25.0, but it didn’t change anything. After removing all the fonts, I reinstalled the ones I needed, and FINALLY, they appeared in Premiere and export. Although it's a bit strange, since this issue only happens on Mac — specific type of Mac, not in general devices, but I'm happy because my problem is solved.

However, I’m a bit bothered by the warning message about "multiple accounts in use." I did using Adobe in two different devices, Mac and Windows, but both devices are in the same room and on the same network. My devices location settings are also set to the same country. Why is this message appearing? Isn’t Adobe license supposed to work on two devices? How can I fix this?

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble getting captions to appear in Premiere Pro.

I've tried using both an imported .SRT file and auto-generated captions, but neither shows up on screen.

I’ve already restarted my laptop, reinstalled Premiere, and even clean cache and reset the settings—but the issue remains.

I've attached a screenshot below. Would really appreciate any help or suggestions on what might be going wrong.

Thanks so much!

I have had this same bug - the fix in my case was to go into Creative Cloud - Adobe Fonts and remove all fonts. Root cause seemed to be the same as others - received a warning about multiple accounts in use - logged out and logged in to a different creative cloud account - loaded up project - text wouldn't work / render at all - uninstalled / reinstalled Premiere multiple times - didn't change things - I upgraded from 25.1 to 25.2.1 - didn't change it. Only removing all fonts got the text tool back to working (showing the text cursor, displaying text, able to render etc.)  What's weird now though is that in Creative Cloud Removed Fonts shows up as empty - this is not an issue for me but could be an issue for someone who relies on Adobe Fonts for their workflow and might create a lot of work for themselves if they remove fonts to test and then they disappear completely.

Hi, I will try to answer your questions.

1) Yes, it works

2) I didn't try this before switching to a new account.

3) Personal

4) Yes, Personal

5) I tried turning off Adobe Fonts, it didn't help. But I still think that's where the problem is. On my original account I had over 200 fonts in Adobe Fonts. On my new account I don't have any. I use the same fonts, I have them saved on my Mac. So I don't know if they were originally taken from the Mac or from Adobe fonts.

6) English

7) Czech/English

@BPI Editor: We haven't been able to reproduce the issue in-house, so we need to rely on users to help us find where the breakage is happening. It is isolated to Mac only. In the meantime, downgrading to 25.1 is a workaround.

Some more questions for everyone in this thread, please let us know the following:

  1. Do graphic shapes work?
  2. Does adding Lens Flare effect to your text make the text show up?
  3. What kind of Creative Cloud account do you have that isn't working? (Enterprise/Teams/Personal)
  4. Does changing to a different Creative Cloud account fix the issue? If so, what kind of account is it? (Enterprise/Teams/Personal)
  5. Does removing all of your synced Adobe Fonts fix the issue?
  6. What language Premiere Pro are you running?
  7. What language are you typing in?

Thanks!

Theresa

@Dani_V. @Theresa Rostek @AnnikaKoenig @Sumeet Kumar Choubey @Rach McIntire

So... has the Adobe team found a solution to this issue? Does the new version guarantee that the text bug has been fixed? How does it correlate with macOS?

@ireneyadao The added fonts, but if you're gonna do a call with @AnnikaKoenig hold off on removing any fonts and y'all can go through stuff together. Thanks for working with us on this, fingers crossed we can locate the issue!
