P: Selection Follows Playhead Multicam bug

In the past year I have used multicam frequently to edit podcasts. Took a small break over the holidays and I am now returning to edit multicams in v25.1.0. After starting an edit I found the multicam view completely glitches selection follows playhead.

Through testing I have found a few issues.

1. none of these issues appear until you open multicam view in a sequence.

2. regardless if it is a timeline with a multicam in it or not opening MC view is what causes these issues.

3. It appears closing and reopening the sequence clears the bugs but they immediately resume when you open MC view

-when MC view is open - SFP appears to function fine but...

1. Selection immediately resets to under playhead when you select a different clip, regardless of how long you wait.

-When multicam view gets closed

1. SFP no longer functions with space bar, or JKL hot keys, it will only follow playhead selection if you click with your cursor on the timecode bar at the top of the sequence.

I have replicated this exact issue on my coworkers computer running Sequoia and 25.1.0. My computer is running Sonoma and 25.1.0

The video files below show all the issues replicated with stock footage for privacy. The first video shows the re selection bug, second video shows closing multicam and SFP not functioning with play pause only clicking with the mouse.

Description:
After updating to the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro 25.2.0 (Build 147), I noticed that the "Selection Follows Playhead" option no longer works as expected.

Expected Behavior:
In previous versions, when the timeline was playing, the clip currently under the playhead would automatically become selected in real-time as the playhead moved.

Actual Behavior:
In version 25.2.0, selection only occurs when playback is stopped and the playhead is moved manually. During playback, clips are no longer being selected dynamically as they were before, even though the "Selection Follows Playhead" option is enabled.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enable the "Selection Follows Playhead" option.

  2. Start playback on the timeline with multiple clips.

  3. Observe that the clip under the playhead is not selected during playback.

  4. Stop playback and manually scrub the playhead — selection works as expected in this case.

Version:
Adobe Premiere Pro 25.2.0 (Build 147)

Platform:
[Windows 11 24H2 RAM 64 GB DDR5  RTX4070Ti SSD NVME SAMSUNG 990Pro]

Additional Notes:
This issue significantly impacts workflows that rely on real-time clip selection for effects, markers, or automation tasks.

Hi Ian

Selection follows playhead does not function properly after opening multicam view. If you select a clip else where on the timeline it will instantly reselect the clip under the play head. If you close multicam view selection follows play head no longer works with jkl, or play/pause with space bar.
PPV-25.1.0

Mac OS, Sequioa/Sonoma (replicated issues on both)

Intel I5

Radeon pro 580x 8gb

64gb DDR4

External Synology NAS hard wired.
Video format is varied, Braw, quicktime mov, h.264

I was in a multicam workflow when I found the bug, but the issues replicates in any project or workflow if you open multicam view.

Steps to reproduce

1. make sure selection follows playhead is enabled
2. Open multicam view

Expected result: first selection after pausing will be the clip my playhead is under, selection should then follow what I click on.

Actual Result: Selection follows playhead but when you select another clip it immediately reselects the clip under the playhead. When multicam is closed SFP no longer functions with jkl or play/pause it only follows when you click the timcode bar at the top of timeline.

Video examples are attached to original post.
