Premiere Pro 23 not connecting XDCAM Spanned clips

Just upgraded to a Mac Mini M2 and jumped from Premiere Pro 2019 to Version 23.4. I Sony EX footage that shoots as spanned clips and when I bring them into premiere it brings them all in separate. Previously it has stitched together the spanned clips for me, but now where I should have an hour long clip, I have a bunch of 13 minute clips. that is if I drag the folder in from Finder. If I got through media browser it's even worse, it only sees the first 13 minute clip and doesn't even show me the rest of them.

Even opening a project from an older version where the spanned clips were correctly imported and already in use, it still brought them in individually and doesn't recognize them as a larger single clip, so it breaks those projects.

Pretty lost here as this is really screwing up my workflow. any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Just wondering if there has been any movement to get this issue resolved?  Lots of shops are still using XDCAM.  It's a huge dissapointment that Adobe hasn't fixed or really responded to this issue after over a year and a half of it being on their radar.  What do we need to do to get this issue seen by the people who can actually help find a resolution?

Hello @gleske,

Sorry for the lack of a response from the team. This thread is referenced in the internal bug report. I have asked for a team member to comment here. I hope we can have an answer soon. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

I think the absolute LACK of response from Adobe on this issue speaks volumes. Meanwhile, Sony's Catalyst Borwse (the free version) has been our solution.

When we invest in a production-level product, it gives me nothing but warm fuzzies to know that when there is an issue, Adobe will be mum on its faults, and we have to rely on external workarounds to provide basic - and previously available within the product line - useability.

Any update on a resolution to this. Have been trying out Davinchi. In the meantime here is a solution and it free download the Sony Catylist Browse - https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/catalystbrowse The free version will stich the spanned files and rewrap them as MXF that you can then relink the media. Hope this helps.

I thought I was going crazy until I read this forum. Thank you to everyone who's contributed on each side. I hope for a resolution soon!!! Has anyone found a temporary workaround or plugin that can help with spanned clips? I know I can import and nest them and modify timecode but I consult with an editor who is not technical and am looking for a good solution.

Thanks for passing it to the bugs team. That said, I have not heard from anyone, and it's reall - REALLY - impacting our workflow; but only in a negative manner. We have new machines, we can't use them with the features we are paying for in Premiere - features that used to be there and have been removed. I know we are no the largest shop that uses PP, and I also know, from talking with peers, that we are not the only shop experiencing this bug, and nobody I have talked with thinks it was a positive choice to remove XDCam from a production workflow. Our cameras are are harder ($$$) to replace than the editing software.

Going from 23 to 24 is supposed to be progression, not regression. Please pass this along to the bugs team to, with my very specific message: please (bugs team) contact me so I can make a decision how to work on my next few projects.

Yes, please move this to the bug team.

Apple M2 Mini 16GB ram Sonoma 14.1
Premiere CC 24.0

When I went back and re-installed 23.6, everything worked as it should, though not as zippy as the latest, native version.

With thanks,
