Premiere pro keeps crashing while trying to use captions/text

Hello, I've been using Premiere Pro for over 3 years, but recently, I've been experiencing crashes every time I try to add captions (text). I've tried clearing the cache, reinstalling the software, using previous versions, and even switching to the default font (Arial). The issue occurs after about 3 minutes of working on captions, and when it crashes. If I work on something else than caption such as simple trimming and color grading, it doesn't crash. After it crashes, I receive an error message, although it doesn't identify any specific issues.

I'm using a MacBook, fully updated as well.

TOM WHITMIRe, I work extensively with captions on both macs and windows and do not have any of these issues.  Why are you having issues while I don't?  Probably because of an issues with hardware, software or workflow and how they all interact...  It's unrealistic for you to expect Adobe to test every variation in hardware, operating system, etc that is out there but you'll find other users here who CAN help...   but that isn't gonna happen unless you are willing to join in the discussion...

Please stop blaming the victums and start blaming adobe for faulty customer service in addressing this wide known issue.  Why is the expert asking for details? This happens to me on 3 different Mac Book Pro computers with 3 different installs over the course of 2 years. This has nothing to do with bad fonts or some random setting. This has to do with a faulty product and adobe does not care and does nothing about it. I have had to stop creating text in Premiere Pro CC because of it.

I have a 1.5 minute video with a piece of text over a clip every second on average. I can not make it 5 minutes without it crashing. 96% of the time I do not loose my work after I reload the program but 100% of the time it will crash.

No screen shots or details need from me because it happens to everyone all the time when you use a lot of text.

Please let me know the FIX ASAP!

Aloha!

@Jake23292367w7z4,

What version of PR?

Are you clicking the CC button in the transcript tab? And then immediate crash always? In a simple, new project?

Marcio5E57,  If you read all of this thread you'd have seen the request for system info.   Please provide that.  Also, if you're on the mac, use fontbook (an app installed by default) to validate all your fonts to make sure there are not issues with any font.  I don't work extensively on windows, but there are ways to do the same in windows...

There's a reason we ask people to provide their system info when they ask for help...  It's unrealistic to expect that Adobe can test Premiere on the vast variety of hardware that people are running it on...  So:   please tell us your system specs: OS version, Premiere version, amount of RAM, Hardware specs including graphics card and if you have any 3rd party plugins installed for Premiere... Also, sequence settings and clip properties can also help. Although you can throw almost any format into premiere, some formats can be problematic, particularly on an underpowered system.

If you're on the mac, there's no reason NOT to, just takes a few moments.  The FontBook app is installed by default on the mac OS.  Simply launch the app, display "all fonts, "  select all, control click and choose "validate fonts."    Just did it on my system which has 327 fonts installed.  Took a minute or 2 to check them all.  As to why a corrupt font might be causing the problem, I have no idea. but the inner workings of a program as complex as premiere are hard the understand.  As far as an equivalent program on windows, I have no idea, but should be simple to google the question.

Once we have the info requested, we can move on to hopefully successfully troubleshoot your issue.  Gotta say, I've worked on a number of projects with complicated captions on both variety of macs and windows machines without any serious problems.

I've been facing the same problem. Every time I tinker with captions, Premier crashes. Doesn't happen when you convert captions to graphics, so there seems to be an issue with the software itself not the font

Wondering if there could be a problem with the font. The font book app for
the Mac, which is included with the operating system allows you to check
the integrity of the font. Not in front of my Mac right now but if you have
any questions post back.

Same issue ... on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra. Latest PP. Trying to change fonts will crash the app. Frustrating. Clearing Media cache will allow me to open the project again but does not fix the issue.
