Premiere Pro modified Audio Channels default to tracks 1 and 2 in source preview

Hello

We are experiencing an issue with version 25.2 on Windows 11 OS

When users take a 16 track mxf file and modify it to use the tracks they want using the right click modify clip channels function.

The file will default to just playing back the audio from track 1 when its loaded into the source preview monitor

So far the only work around we have found is to modify the clip to how the user wants it. Unlink then relink it.

And of course have tried the usual cache and preferences clearances. As well as a trial run in 25.2.3. We have checked in version 24 and no such problem exists there. But due to a bug we encountered in 24 we can't roll back(and so are between the rock and hard place)

The work around hasn't been fully stable and it has coincided with instances of the already reported bug where adobe claims it can't access a files audio. And when we see this we lose all audio until we reboot the application

If anyone else has experienced this or has found a better work around would love to hear it

Thanks

Chris

Hello

To rpovide some bug info on this please see below on how to replicate

We are using a mix of Win 10 and Win 11 and version 25.2.3

We're seeing this on different file types and codecs. But our main files we use that flagged this are 16 track mxf avc codec, but again we are seeing this on all file types

The bug will manifest as below

1. User will import as normal

2. User will right click, select modify clip channels

3. The original files audio layout is tracks 1 and 2 will be sfx tracks. 3 and 4 dolby encode, 5-16 is various different audio tracks. Users will modify the channel lay out to play out tracks 1 and 2 on 1 and 2 and selected audio tracks from tracks 5-16 on on 3 and 4.

5. User will click ok

6. User will load the clip in to the source preview monitor(not sequence)

7.Playback will only play track 1 or sometimes no audio at all.

8. The only way to fix this we have found is to either close and re-open Premiere following the modification or to unlink the media then relink it. At this point the moded audio channels play back as expected

We have also found though that when dumped on a timeline the audio will match the modifications and the timelines audio play out will match what the users expected.

Hi Rach

Have sent you a DM outlining the issue. Please could yourself or another from Adobe please contact us or respond here

As can be seen there is another user reporting this bug, from a different OS to ours, which would indictae a bug accross both mac and windows

Hi @Chris33470963agnk

I'm sorry to hear you're having audio problems.  Can you tell me more about what type of MXFs you're working with?  Would you be able to send us your project and a test clip?  Please feel free to DM me.  Any additional information to help us recreate the issue would be great.  If you have time, please give the team a few more details. See: How do I write a bug report?

I hope we can help you soon.
