Premiere Pro – Program Monitor guide line / Add Guide not working properly

In Premiere Pro on macOS, I can add a guide in Program Monitor, but using the guide for clip alignment is not working as expected. When I change Motion > Position X values (for example 960 to 420), the guide does not help with accurate placement the way I expect. I need to know whether this is a bug or intended behavior, because guide-based alignment is confusing in the current workflow.

Same issue here on macOS with Premiere Pro 26.3.0. Using the “Add Guide…” function does not work properly in any respect. It will only place a guide at whatever is entered as values when the Add Guide window first pops up. For me it’s set to 50 pixels horizontal. No other changes I make have any effect on where the guide gets placed… it’s always at 50 pixels horizontal. Can’t do percent either.

Having the same issue. The Guide (ruler grid) will not drag to exact location. Example I want it to go to “1280” instead it drags to 1278 or 1284. I try right clicking the guide (vertical line or ruler line whatever you want to call it) I type in 1280 and hit ok and it does not move where its suppose to go.

    Hi @Sudhakar_M1948,

Following up to inform you that we were able to reproduce this issue. The team is currently investigating the bug.

As an alternative workflow for editing guides, try zooming in on the Program Monitor then dragging the guide to your desired position. With a zoomed-in Program Monitor, it should display a more precise pixel position when manually dragging the guide.

Sorry for the frustration and I hope we can share an update soon.

    Best,

    Jonathan

Welcome to the Premiere forums! We are glad to see you here. Thank you for reporting this and sharing the video of what’s occurring. The team will need more detail to try and fully understand the issue:

    • Premiere Version: What exact Premiere version are you using?
    • Operating System: Please specify which macOS version.
    • Does it affect all projects or only some?
    • When did the problem first begin?
