Premiere Productions (w/LucidLink) -Proxy sound not working when switching between MacOS and Windows
I'm working with a remote team using Productions with LucidLink and we have editors on a mix of MacOS and Windows systems.
Within the Production, we have a project containing rushes, with multicam clips corresponding to those which are then pulled into other projects.
The raw media isn't on LucidLink, but there are lower res (720p) h.264 proxies on there.
The project was initially made while connected to a local drive with the rushes. The rushes were imported (via Media Browser), the proxies were attached (pointing to the LL directory) and the clips were then made offline (Status = 'Offline: User Requested').
This allows the offline editors to just use the proxies, while things like scaling aren't impacted.
Unfortunately, we're having a problem with waveforms. Specifically between operating systems. I can get everything to work as expected on MacOS. However, as soon as I open up the same project on a Windows system, even though everything is correctly linked (i.e. proxies show as attached) and the video plays back, there is no audio, either audibly or visually with waveforms.
The solution to this is to reattach the proxies (Right click>Proxy>Attach) from the Windows system, and doing this immediately solves the problem.
However, when you then switch over to a Mac system, those clips are now mute and showing no waveforms, requiring the proxies to be reattached.
I've tried the following:
- mov vs mp4 h.264 proxies
- ProRes proxies
- Replacing the clips (Right Click>Replace)
- Reimporting the clips (via Media Browser)
- Generating waveforms (Clip>Generate Audio Waveforms)
As well as a bunch of other stuff I can't currently remember. I'm honestly not sure what else to do at this stage, but it's really causing issues for the team and kind of makes the whole Productions x LucidLink not viable.
Any ideas would be massively appreciate!
