Premiere v 26.0.0 captions bug - visual editing

I’ve generated captions and now need to edit and reformat how some of them appear on screen.  Where I could click on the caption and previously select it to visually edit it in the program window - the editor is creating an error where it does not select the captions to where they can be visually edited.

I can edit them in the text window, which is not visual or expedient for reframing and formatting needs. This appears to be a new bug presented in captions and caption editing

    Hi @Bevan Bell -Cisco,

Thank you for reporting a problem and sorry you’ve been experiencing issues. We need a few more details to help, like hardware and operating system information. Please see How to Report a Problem.

Under the Properties panel > Appearance, is the “Fill” checkbox selected for that caption? Is anything visible if you add Stroke, Background or Shadow to it?

Is this happening in all projects or is it project-specific? Are graphic layers affected as well or only caption tracks?

    Sorry for the frustration,

    Dani

I’m experiencing the same problem. No text is showing up inside premiere—captions, on screen text, etc. And I can’t generate any new text. This includes text from previous projects that were working fine. I’m on an Apple M2 Ultra with 128 gigs of RAM. I uninstalled premiere and reinstalled it. I upgraded to 26.2. Option started and deleted preferences and cached media. I’ve tried every workspace view. This is particularly troubling as none of the methods I had previously used to downgrade a Premiere project are working now, so I can’t even re-open the project in 25. Please advise.
