Productions Panel not refreshing/projects cannot be created (With Lucidlink)

I am an editor on an animated series working remotely with one other editor using Lucidlink. All our assets and project files are stored on Lucidlink.

I have been converting our edit projects to use Productions, so I can spread out our assets to various projects instead of having every asset in one bloated project per episode.

It was working great until the Productions panel stopped responding to the changes I would make, like create a project/ folder, or rename a project/folder.

The only way to get the Productions panel to refresh is to completely restart the Production which sometimes means closing my projects.

How do I fix this? Beyond this really disruptive and annoying bug, the system works perfectly.

I saw another post from Marjorie Sacks that is supposedly the correct answer to this question but it only seems to apply to local servers (and to teams with resources like an IT department lol)

Is your Windows up to date and is your other editor on Windows 10 as well @zack_3303?

I'm sorry that's incredibly frustrating and there could be a few things going on. Is there potential for duplicated clips? There is a good thread here that explains what might be happening regarding recovered clips, especially if separate projects are being brought in one at a time.

What is leading up to the "The source media is not found in any open projects" message? There is a reassociate clip function you may be able to try: Select your clip/s in the timeline then go to Edit > Reassociate Source Clips. A dialog will pop-up where you can point it to the project file where you know you put the clip/s.

Are the corrupted projects within the Production? Or are they separate and in a different location?

The Best Practices and Workflow Guide for Long Form and Episodic Post Production is also a good resource for Productions.

@Dani_V.

Nope, no projects with garbage characters. They only come out with the names I give them.

My other editor doesn't seem to be having issues. Just me.

I mentioned it was working properly when the Production only had a couple episodes coverted from their normal Premiere Projects. But once I started getting more of the season in the Production, it started to give me these issues.

Also just today I've been getting so many more game breaking bugs.

A ton of "recovered clips" bins pop up in my projects that contain clips and files I KNOW I saved and sorted away properly. Some clips show up in these bins multiple times every time I reopen a project.

I'm also getting a ton of "The source media is not found in any open projects", and I am not given any option to point Premiere in the right direction because I KNOW exactly where those clips are. Please jot that down for a feature in the next version. What am I supposed to do here?

And in the last hour I've had a couple projects get completely corrupted with the "The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened" message.

Guys, I'm being as patient as I can here. I'm losing hope in Premiere by the hour. I know all these issues could be separate forum threads but my livlihood relies on this system working. And it just isn't.

Is it this version of Premiere? Should I try updating or going back to an older version? I just can't understand how a professional software could act like this.  I've read all the best practices documentation from Frame.io, and IASTE 700 on how to best use Premeire Productions, so if its me, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you for testing that out @zack_3303, interesting. Do you see any project files with garbage characters alongside the actual project file (temp files)?

Do you know if the other editor is experiencing the same (either on Lucid or local)? Could help narrow down to know. Did you update Windows at all since staring the Production? (You mentioned the panel was working originally)

Wow, that is unusual behavior! On my system, it's instantaneously visible and usable. Just ... ouch.

Yep, that's right. In the Productions panel, I right click and hit either "new folder" or "new project". I am only creating or renaming projects/folders in the Productions panel.

I did a few tests, creating project and folders in the Productions tab, while watching my Explorer window to see how long it would take to populate.

The project/folder would appear almost instantly in the Explorer window, but never shows up in the Production panel until I do something to refresh it, like close all projects, close and reopen the Production, or restart Premiere entirely.

So just to check to be sure ... you have the Production "up".

In Premiere, in the Production folder within Premiere, you right-click in that panel, select the option to "create new folder" ... and the folder is created on disc, but doesn't show in the Productions panel?

Hi @Dani_V.

I believe I am using new Lucidlink.

I just did that test where I copied the Production to my desktop and Im still having the same issue. I have the explorer window on my other monitor, and I can see the folders and projects being created there, but I can't see them in the Production panel. I've tried this test on both my desktop and Lucidlink, and got the same result.

Hi @zack_3303, thank you for your patience. I got some more information from the team: The Production panel relies on file system notifications in order to stay updated, so Premiere Pro asks the operating system to alert it if anything changes in the Production folder. If the Production panel is not staying updated, it means these file system notifications aren't working. So it's likely to do with LucidLink and Windows.

Are you using LucidLink Classic or the new LucidLink? Could you double-check and make sure both Lucid and Windows are up-to-date? (In Classic you can check for updates/version with the hamburger menu on to left corner). If you are up-to-date and the issue persists, would be worth reaching out to LucidLink Support.

A way to test and confirm that the Production panel itself is working properly is to copy the Production to your desktop and open from there to check.

Hi @Dani_V. ,

Yes my upload and download speed are about 100mbps.

I can't seem to find the version number for Lucidlink but we started using it in February of this year, and based on LL's patch notes I'm guessing we're using build #6319.

As for your second question,

Normally I am able to interact with the Productions panel, and its just that I don't see the changes reflected in the panel until I restart the Production. Sometimes, the Productions panel won't even show me "create project" when I right click a folder, and acts like I'm right clicking a project. (Though this only seems to happen when my system is under stress)

If/when I am able to make changes, like adding a project, I do see it reflected on the windows explorer side.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help get to the bottom of this.

Is your 100 mbps connection for both upload and download and which version of LucidLink do you have @zack_3303? Also just wanted to clarify, when you say the panel stops responding, are you still able to interact with it but the changes don't get reflected? So for instance, are you able to actually click on the New Folder or New Project icon, name it, and click 'OK', and will only show up with a restart? Or does the panel become completely unresponsive? If you are able to make changes but they are not reflected in the panel, do you see the changes reflected in the actual file path of the project in File Explorer?
