Random clips have zebra bars, wrong timecode or something?

Today I opened a project and realized the edit was completely broken, every video clip was playing the wrong moments, lots of clips also have zebra bars, as if theres no content at the timecode its referencing. Nothing about my media has changed, same storage, same video clips, no modifications to how the timecode is interpreted or anything. An older version of the project opens correctly.

I think I have figured out what may have happened but unsure on how to fix it.

This project had a 30 second ad in it, I edited the ad, delivered to color by going through Resolve and creating trimmed clips for the colorist. He did the color, sent everything back, I relinked, everything is great.

I then shared this project with someone on LucidLink that only has access to the proxies of the raw media, he opened it, and either relinked the master clips to the trimmed “for color” files or Premiere found them on its own (unsure, I haven't been able to verify with him yet).

This is my theory, as the same thing is happening with another set of projects with another remote editor under very similar circumstances.

I thought the fix would be as simple as moving the “for color” trimmed files out of the project folder, deleting my media cache and reopening the project, and relinking the media but the zebra bars remain. In the timeline I create and shared above, you'll see that three clips on the timeline work, while the exact same three from the “broken” project don't. The bad ones reference the wrong start and end timecode. They’re all offset by 29:08. Im not sure how clips on a timeline get their ins and outs offset by an equal amount. But it seems the only affected clips are the ones that were in the 30 second edit that went to color. Any clip that wasn't in that edit is unaffected.

@core787 Thank you for your time putting together the screen recording and sending us the xml/project. I can see what you’re talking about even with offline media. Also, that’s interesting about Lucidlink. If they only have access to the proxies (and those were used with the trimmed clips to relink) then unless they have a local like SSD/HD of the masters, Premiere shouldn’t be able to relink itself.

Are you in a mixed sharing environment like PC to Mac?

As for the timecode, can we get a sample clip or two as well to look further into? What we’re curious is to see the Timecode Panel with Source TC for V1 over those affected clips. We’ve seen this issue with clips that got transcoded in a separate software and the dailies process rewrote the timecode making the clips come out to TC 00:00:00:00 instead of the actual timecode, which ended up behaving this way.

I’ve also seen things go like this when there’s a few instances of the same named clips, just in different folders with someone accidentally relinking to the same name like first they saw, instead of the correct one.

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums! Sorry to hear that’s happened. In order to help troubleshoot, we do need a few more details like are you PC/mac and what type, version/build of Premiere, if Windows what driver, etc. with our bug report details.

It sounds as though something has gone wrong in that current project, maybe relinking wise, but opening an auto-save loads it correctly. How far back is that auto-save (older version) that did load the way it should? And are all your media labeled differently?

I wonder if we could try to jumpstart the project having issues. You could try clearing your cache out and then offline all your media, then relink to see if that clears the issue.

If you start a new project and import the one having issues into that, does anything improve?

Sorry, here are those details:

Issue: Various clips from en existing project and in various sequenceshave suddenly shown up with zebra bars. When match framing it doesnt find the correct timecode.
Steps to Reproduce: Open project, open sequence that has many clips.
Expected Result: No zebra bars, correct timecode.
Actual Result: Various clips have zebra bars and are referencing what appears to be the wrong timecode.
