Text tool doesn't show UI when creating or editing text

I’m so often encountering this bug in Premiere after having the project opened for a little while. I create or edit text whether it’s just a line or a text box and user interface box around the text does not appear. I can’t see what text I’m editing, can’t see what I’m highlighting or deleting or anything. When I click on the text to drag it around, I can’t see the box at all. This is a seriously annoying bug, please fix.

(I’ve made my clicks highlighted yellow so you can see what I’m clicking)

    Hi @Tom Fewchuk ,

    Welcome back. Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help identify the issue. For our preferred format, please see, How do I write a bug report?

    It can also help to know about how long before this issue begins? 2 Hours? 5 mins?

    Thank you for bringing this to our attention,

    Amy

    @Tom Fewchuk,

    If you have a lot of customization, I would still reset preferences, but I would try other steps first. You probably have, but I would work through your troubleshooting again, systematically.

    What version of PR and what OS? Such problems can also be graphics driver, There have been bugs in the past that created such symptoms, but I don’t think thee is one currently active.

    Create a new test project, add one clip, and create a timeline. Add text with the text tool. Does the bounding box show? (And yes, it absolutely should.) Change to a regular, not custom workspace, reset to saved layout. Any change?

    When you reset preferences, see the backup caution on the page @lambiloon provided. It is basically saving a copy of the entire folder. See this page regarding restoring settings:

    Reset the media cache at the same time.
