Text tool in premiere focus issue

I've noticed a bug with the text tool that seems new since the version of Premiere that removed scrubbing via the mouse wheel from the Program window. If you ↓

  1. Select text tool
  2. Click into the Program window
  3. Start typing

What ends up happening is you're still in the main timeline area and all your keystrokes are now affecting that. I've had countless times where I think I'm typing a word but instead I'm editing the timeline or randomly switching to different tools.

This is extremely frustrating and is impeding my workflow. Please, fix this ASAP.

Hi @jessenicoli,

Thanks for the repro steps.  Can you tell me what type of computer and what version of Premiere you're working in?  @Stan Jones' thread is also a one.  Let me know if your issue seems to be the same.  Please see: How do I report a Problem?

I hope we can help you shortly. Sorry for the pain points.

@jessenicoli,

Please confirm that your current version is 25.3.0. What OS?

Do you actually see the blue outline around the panel change back to the timeline?

The symptom of not being able to get focus in the text box, or more often, keystrokes operating as keyboard shortcuts, occurred as 2 bugs that have been fixed. But there were similar reports after those 2 were fixed. See my post regarding a report in 25.3.0, and try what I suggested there.

Not seeing this on Windows.

Tried trashing preferences?

If that does not help, write a bug report as you have not provided any information.
