The "3" key doesn't work when assigned to "zoom" shortcuts

When I assign the "3" key to a zoom shortcut, it doesn't work. For example: fit, zoom to fit, zoom in, zoom out, in all iterations -- ie program monitor, source monitor, or system-wide in the case of "fit." In previous versions of Premiere (2021-2024), I have assigned 1 to zoom in on source/program monitors, 2 to zoom out, and 3 to zoom to fit. Yet in 2025, while other keys will perform the function when I assign them to that shortcut, the "3" key will not do anything.  My workflow uses this a lot, and I've had to modify it, but would love to be able to use that "3" key to zoom to fit again.

  • Steps:

1. Premiere Pro-> Keyboard shortcuts

2. Assign the "3" key to View->Magnification->Fit (or Zoom Program Monitor to Fit, or Zoom Source Monitor to Fit, or Program Monitor Panel-> Zoom in/out, or Source Monitor Panel-> Zoom Monitor In/out.

3. Return to program or source monitor, use my assigned shortcuts to zoom in ("1") and out ("2"), which work.

  • Expected result: program or source monitor will zoom to fit.
  • Actual result: nothing happens
  • Version: 25.3.0 for Mac Sequoia 15.5, but has been an issue on all Mac operating systems I've used with all versions of Premiere 2025.

This issue is system-wide, regardless of project or Teams project. It began with my upgrade to 2025.

View -> Magnification -> Fit also works both in PM and SM

Just need to highlight the pane

I dont use Ctl+Shft+0

As for zoom in or out in the PM or SM you have to set your own KBSC.

@Tom_edit,

Upvoted your response. I like the post you linked to in that long thread about one of these issues, because it warns of the complexity of these problems.

But that thread is dense. I have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to focus the several issues that need to be addressed.

@ricktheflynn,

See my post here:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/keyboard-shortcut-issue-in-25-3/idc-p/15393293#M52443

The NEW shortcut for Zoom Program Monitor to Fit is assigned by default to Ctl+Shft+0 (Keyboard zero), but, as default or assigned custom, does not work anywhere. (It is only intended to work with the Program Monitor in focus.) I think this is a bug. A bug has been acknowledged in one of the threads about the zoom shortcuts, but it is not clear to me that it is specifically acknowledge. In any event, it is NOT fixed in Beta 25.6.0.24. @AnnikaKoenig

Ann notes that the "Fit" shortcut works - this is the shortcut still assigned to the View -> Magnification -> Fit function, but it is NOT the same as the new, more specific" zoom functions.

It is not that the 3 key will not work, it works for Fit, Zoom Program Monitor to 100%, and others.

If this issue does not persist when you create a FRESH keyboard shortcuts layout then the problem you're likely running into is with the xml file that holds premiere's shortcuts. It's a bug many have run into, especially in the 25.x cycle because they changed so many kbd shortcuts.

You can read up a bit in the below post, where it's also discussed how you can potentially dig into the xml and remove the problem hotkeys.

I tied "3" to Fit, and it works here on Windows.

Is the 3 key on the numeric keypad or on the top row.
