The auto-save feature isn't working. Premier freezes.

The auto-save feature isn't working. Premiere freezes. I've been experimenting—I set the autosave interval to 10 minutes, and after 10 minutes, Premiere freezes. I set it to 3 minutes, and after 3 minutes, it freezes. Sometimes this corrupts the project, and I have to redo some of the work. This is terrible; professional software shouldn't work like this. I use the latest versions of all updated software on Windows 11

It’s unclear what option you think Adobe took away from you; millions of users are using local SSDs, with zero issues.

No network drives means fewer potential contributing factors…

Katie’s hypothesis about Windows accessibility impacting performance, is a good one. It’d also be interesting to know in what previous Premiere version you had auto-save working without issue.

    Hi @Paul_Gringo

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums again! In order to help troubleshoot, we do need a few more details like confirming what version/build of Premiere, since you’re on Windows 11 then what driver and build are you on, etc. with our bug report details.

Curious if you try to open a brand new project, does the same thing happen? Importantly, was there anything particular that changed when this issue started happening?

Are you getting any error messages and/or crashes when you mentioned the project corrupts? If you are, can you put your email in the crash report and let us know in DM what that is, so we can take a better look at the report.

Agree with @Bruce Bullis’s point of local or network, let us know.

Wanted to also alert you that we’re aware of a Windows 11 freezing issue in Premiere and currently investigating. In some cases, they have additionally identified that having Windows Accessibility on such as ‘Magnifier’ could create issues. See this post:

Even if you did not actively turn Magnifier on, sometimes it can be toggled on from launching certain Steam games, etc. I would check on that, as well.

Sorry for any frustrations and hope to help!
    Katie

This happens in all my projects. I'm using an SSD, but I've also tried using a regular HDD. It still freezes. There are no error messages—it just freezes, that's all. Sometimes it resumes working on its own, and sometimes it freezes completely. I've already updated everything I can.

Is your auto-save saving to local storage, or network storage?

If network...any difference in behavior, if you send auto-saves to local storage instead?

I use a super-fast SSD for my projects. I wanted to work faster and more comfortably, but Adobe took that option away from me.
