the Program Monitor shows a black screen whenever the video is paused.

After the latest Premiere Pro update, the software stopped working properly. When I edit photos in my timeline, the Program Monitor shows a black screen whenever the video is paused. The photos are only visible when I press the Play button and the video is playing.

More importantly, when I export the project, the photos are also exported as black screens. Only the video footage and audio are exported correctly; the photos are completely missing from the final export.

I have already uninstalled all versions of Premiere Pro through Creative Cloud and reinstalled them, but the problem still persists.

I have also updated my graphics card driver and tried uninstalling Premiere Pro several times and installing older versions, but the same problem occurs in every version I have tested.

The project opened and worked correctly once at first. However, the issue occurred after I changed the sequence settings/dimensions.

    Hi @Neptunee

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums and giving us details about your issue with black screens/images. In order to better troubleshoot, we need to ask for a few more details like if Mac (and what macOS) or PC (whether Windows 11/10, plus what driver version & build), what version & build of Premiere are you using, how’s your media stored with our bug report details.

Curious to know what you changed the sequence settings/dimensions to, as in, what was it to start and what did you change them to be when this problem began?

What type of photos did you import? You can right click > Media Properties on them as well. Check to see what their DPI is in case some are a lot larger like 300 DPI.

So the photos are displaying black both in Program Monitor during paused playback, but also when you export, despite them showing correctly during actual playback. Is this video being directly exported from Premiere or going through Media Encoder (and does your Media Encoder version match to your Premiere’s version?)

Is Program Monitor set to Full Resolution playback or something else like ½, ¼, etc? You can also check your Paused Resolution to let me know what setting that is on.

Do photos playback/export as black in all. your projects or only some? What about new, empty projects where you import just one or two and test?

    Hope to help,
    Katie
