Essential Graphics Properties Panel Empty/Missing (all Templates with Audio)

I am experiencing a critical issue with Essential Graphics templates created in After Effects and used in Premiere Pro. The templates work correctly for a short period, but after making initial adjustments, the Properties Panel (For Essential Graphics) goes blank with only the standard settings (crop, audio, transform) that are available for every clip, regardless of the type of clip.

In the example, I show that even if you use the button in a different place in the interface, the window does not update its content.

When I drag a fresh instance of the Essential Graphics template into the project, the settings appear correctly, but only for that specific clip. As soon as I select a different template clip in the timeline, the panel fails to refresh correctly: while the 'Headline' of the Essential Graphics panel updates to show the correct template name, the settings/parameter panel itself does not update, making it impossible to adjust any variables. I have encountered this so frequently now that it urgently needs a fix. It has reached a point where I have reverted to 'Dark Ages' workflows manually rendering out pre-comps and completely avoiding the Essential Graphics feature because it is currently broken and non-functional for my production.

Attempted Troubleshooting (Non-working solutions)

  • Updated Premiere Pro and After Effects to the latest version.

  • Restarted the application multiple times.

  • Restarted the PC. (Switch Mac)

  • Cleared Media Cache and Plugin Cache.

I have the exact same issue, and haven’t seen a solution just yet. So in short:

The problem occurs when you drag a graphic template (mogrt) onto your timeline. The properties panel usually works the first time you select that clip, and you can fill out the properties. But, if you then select another graphic or go back to the first graphic a while later, the properties panel either loads the properties of a different graphic, or doesn’t show any property options at all.

I noticed this problem didn’t occur when I set Première back to the 26.0 version, it only happened in newer versions. However, this is not really a permanent solution.

Anyone know what to do about this?

    Hey Petra,
Thanks for the post. This doesn't sound like a typical cache or installation issue.

A couple of questions that may help narrow down the solution:

    • Does this happen only with MOGRTs that contain audio, or with silent templates as well?

    • Are the templates authored in the latest version of After Effects or an earlier version?

    • Does the issue occur in a brand-new Premiere project with just a single MOGRT?

If you haven't already, please share the Premiere Pro version, After Effects version, and a sample MOGRT (or a simplified version that reproduces the issue). That will make it much easier for the team to investigate and determine whether this is a regression or a template-specific issue.

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your quick reply! As for the answers to your questions:

    • Most of the Mogrts I use contain audio. Sometimes the properties don’t show up if linked selection is turned of and the audio of the Mogrt isn’t selected. Sometimes the properties return when you select the audio and clip, sometimes the properties stay gone. I don’t think the problem occurs with Mogrts that don’t contain audio, but I’m not entirely sure.
    • The templates were made with the latest version of After Effects, and were then put in a shared library from which we can access them in Premiere.
    • The issue did occur in a new project with just one Mogrt. It might have to do with the audio again. The Morgrt worked when I first used it in the timeline. Next, when I turned off my linked selection to remove audio from a different clip on my timeline and then clicked on the Mogrt again, the properties were gone. When I turned on linked selection, the properties didn’t come back.

We work in the latest versions of Premiere and After Effects.

Hopefully this information helps to narrow down what could be the issue! I don’t have a sample Mogrt I can sent right now, but if that is necessary for the team, I think I can sent one this week.

Hi @AEAEAE -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.  Please see, How do I write a bug report?

Is that “Open Properties Panel” button a custom button?
