To do the re-transcribe, you must be in the Source Monitor view; you were in the Program monitor/timeline view. Or use the method I described using the Project Panel.

You cannot change the language from the Captions tab (your second screenshot). You must be in the Transcript tab/Souce monitor view; or use the Project panel.

I don't know why your original transcriptions went wrong if you have French set. But once transcribed, you must retranscribe to correct it.

To create captions, you CAN (as shown in Ian's screenshot) create a static transcription, selecting French, and then create captions. But that will be a static/fixed transcription of the sequence, and will not update as you do any further editing.

Hi,

I applied the automatic French language in Edit -> Preferences -> Media Analysis & Transcription -> Default Language
I don't understand your other explanations.
Previously in the text tab, when I wanted to transcribe a person on my timeline,
I did "transcribe", I chose the language then I did "create subtitles from the transcription".
It was simple and quick.
If i was another text or a modification i could transcribe again.
Now it's not possible, the link is not available (see my older screeshot)

@Frederic22167290536y,

I understand your frustration. Text-based editing is powerful, but it also comes with a learning curve. When things work, they may seem intuitive, but if you get unexpected results, it can be challenging to know whether there is a problem, or if you are just not in the right window. It is not clear to me so far, whether you only have English as an option, or whether you are not seeing a choice for language when you transcribe.

To re-transcribe Source media transcripts, you must be in Source monitor view or use the Project Panel.

For us to understand what is going on, select one clip that needs to be re-transcribed. Reveal it in the Project Panel. Right-click and pick re-transcribe. The "Create transcription for source media" dialogue appears. There is a "Language" drop down. Does it have only English? If so, a screenshot would be helpful. If it has French, pick that; it will transcribe using French. If there is a "cloud with an arrow" icon next to a language, it means the language pack for that language has not been downloaded. Those files are large, and the download step will take some time.

You can use this method to re-transcribe all your clips at once. Just select multiples before you right- click.

It will help us to know, what is your transcription language preference set to? Edit -> Preferences -> Media Analysis & Transcription -> Default Language. If it is English, and you always transcribe in French, change it to French. The preference options may be a little different if you still trying PR 24.x.

In your screenshot from Oct 14, you are in the Transcript tab of the Text panel, and that is what you want. But you are in the "Show program monitor"/timeline view of the transcript, seeing Source media transcripts, and you can't retranscribe them from there.

When you use automatic transcription (all imports or all clips added to sequences), it use the default language and does not give you a choice. This also happens if you click on the "transcribe" button for untranscribed clips in program monitor/timeline view.

We can help you get this worked out.

Last message because I'm starting to get fed up.
I can't choose the language again. It automatically translated me into English, and I can't erase or make the transcription in French. It's frustrating. Version 25.4.1

Hi @Frederic22167290536y
For the MOGRT, please make a separate bug post. We will focus on the transcript bug here.
Which version of Premiere Pro are you currently using, and what are the system specs? Please send screenshots of the menus you are not seeing. Can you find the French language and transcribe with a new clip, or are you trying to get an old sequence re-transcribed in French?
Have you attempted to refresh user settings and uninstall and reinstall Premiere Pro?
Here to help
Ian
