Update 25.2 | Unable to render via CUDA

Greetings community,

ISSUE

Since the update to version 25.2, Premiere Pro immediately fails when trying to render any section on the timeline, as well as attempting to export directly from premiere pro with (CUDA) renderer. It will also fail when project is sent to media encoder to for rendering.

The only way I can get Premiere Pro and/or media encoder to successfully render is via OpenCL (almost twice the rendering time).

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Rolled back to version 25.1 (along with Media encoder) and attempted to render same project files via CUDA - this also failed. I suspect its because said project file was saved as 25.2 version....so I tried an old 25.1 project file - and it appears to be working as intended as my render is not failing immediately.

RESULTS:

Successful render with CUDA after rolling back to 25.1 of both Premiere Pro and Media encoder.

Will attempt to create/render a fresh new project and see if error persist...will circle back...but so far it looks like it might be a bug with version 25.2

Hi @defaultgz1qlshjs8mz - We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.  Please see, How do I write a bug report?

Can you describe the issues you are having?

If you have a current project with an accelerated exporting error can you please email it to jamiec@adobe.com so that we can investigate.

Thank you.

Been having the same issues for a couple years. After Effects and Media Encoder both do not like the RTX 3090 card. Used to render fine on both for a long time. But the new updates the last couple years killed it. Have tried tons of studio drivers and confirmed it is card related, my quadro cards render fine.

Hi @aopao N26855741mr4y

It looks like you’re running into a GPU rendering error. We’re actively working to understand and fix these issues. If you’re able to share your project file, we’d be happy to help troubleshoot. You can email it to jamiec@adobe.com

same problem, every time I render, I download the old version, as the new one has a smart search that speeds up the work significantly

Hi @Half-Duplex - You mention you are using graphics,  Have you been able to narrow down which graphic is causing the issue?  Is your graphic at the beginning of your sequence?

Can you email the project to jamiec@adobe.com

  • I'm running Studio Driver Version 572.83 (was running an older version when issue sparked)
  • The project that sparked my original issue has 3rd party effects. But I disabled this in my initial troubleshooting. I've also attempted to create a new project using my raw sony fx30 4k/60fps + 1080p/60fps Gopro footage (no effects), and media encoder failed
    • my exports typically vary between 40-240minutes. media encoder is not failing with smaller exports
  • I create this project each week from a saved project template (build in previous versions); which has a number of nested sequences that I add my footage/clips to. I'll typically need to adjust sequence length/frame rates (and wondering if there is something here causing it since I often use sony fx30 slog3 footage at the intro....which is where media encoder is failing)
    • I have a few minor effects/color creation layers. I wouldn't say my effects are super complicated within the project. But my final sequence has quite a number of nested sequences within it....maybe too many?
  • Rolled back to version 25.1 (and kept Studio 572.83 driver); and sent the same project through media encoder via CUDA and it was successful.

My frustration levels are minor. These things happen from time to time. Super thankful to all who have chimed in so far to help assist. I think I'm going to build the project template file again from scratch (in 25.2) and see if that makes a difference...will circle back with updates.

Hi @Half-Duplex -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.

What gpu driver are you using? Adobe recommends using the "Studio" driver version when working in Premiere Pro.

What effects are you using in your sequence?

Sorry for the frustration.

You might try a new project in 25.2, even something quick. If it works, maybe the project has a problem. Try a new project and IMPORT in the trouble project. Which driver do you have installed. I'm running 572.16 Studio driver of course.
