Updated MAC OS to 27 Golden Gate and lost all of my audio VSt plugins, even the Apple pre-installed ones. When I tried to re-scanI go the spinning beach ball of death. Had to reinstall evrything to get them back

i updated to MAC OS to 27 Golden Gate on a M$ MAC Mini and lost all of my audio plugins, even the Apple pre-installed ones. I noticed they were offline in a project I was working on so I tried to re-scan for them. When I tried to re-scan I got the spinning beach ball of death. It would just hang and then when it came back on-line there was nothing poulated in the plug-in window.

so i tried: restting Plugin Loading Cache, Cleared all the media cache, tried reseting all app preferences. I installed Rosetta 2.

I removed all of the plugins I had, which at the time were only two, Waves Clarity FX, and Izotope Elements 8. I uninstalled Izotope since it was a bit dated and updated Waves Calrity to the latest version which says its capatible with OS 27.

Tried again to scan and nothing, again including all the Apple plugins. The directories were correct and the plugins were in the correct folder but all it would do is spin and then not populate.

I uninstalled Premire and Media encoder including preferences (the only two adobe apps I have installed) ran the cleaner tool, uninstalled creative cloud for desktop, ran the cleaner tool again. I then re-installed premire and Media encoder started it up and still got the spinning wheel of death when I scanned for the plugins.

The project I was working on needed major noise reduction work so I wiped the MAC clean with a fresh install of MAC OS 27. Installed Premire and Media encoder and upon starting Premire for the first time it ran a plug-in scan and found the plugins. I only had Waves installed but it found it and all the apple plug-ins and everything worked fine. At that point I purchased a new plug-in for the project I was working on, Clear by Supertone. It installed to the correct directories. I opened premire to scan for the new plug-in and I was right back to the spinning ball of death. At first it would just not re-populate but after the second try it lost all the other plugins again. 

 

Tried eveything again to get them back and nothing.

 

Did another clean wipe and installed waves & Clear and upon first time opening Premire it scanned and found them both along woth the apple plugins and everythig is working fine. I am afraid to try and install another plugin at this time however.

    Hello ​@10Eighteen Media,

    Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’m wondering if you had any of the older Plugin Loading.log files from when you had the spinning wheel of death. It would be in your Documents → Adobe → 26.0 folder. I also wonder, if you you do see this again, we could use a Sample file that could tell us what’s happening at the time of the hang. This should definitely not be happening.

    MAC sample file:

    1. Open Activity Monitor and identify the Premiere process (you can use search to filter for only Premiere)
    2. In Premiere, get it into the hanging/unresponsive state
    3. Switch back to Activity Monitor and right click on Premiere then choose > Create Sample
    4. Click Save, then save it as a text file somewhere.
    5. Then, you can DM me and either provide us the link/access to this file or I can send you a link to upload that file, whatever's easiest.

    Apologies for the inconvenience. Hopefully we can figure out what’s causing this.

    Hi Amy,

    After a couple of re-installs I am a little gun shy to try and re-create now by trying to add another audio plug-in. Mainly because after the second or third hang it diconnects from the plugins all together and I lose access to the ones installed. So I dont want to fuss with it since I have the plugins I need operating at this time. However if I do need to add another and get the hang I will follow your instructiomns and get you the logs.

      I’d roll back to Tahoe if I were you. It’s common for plug-ins to lag behind in compatibility. I watch the Production Expert site. They have a macOS Golden Gate Audio Compatibility database .

        Hi Rag,

        Thanks for the heads up on Pproduction Experts. I did not kmow the site. I think I am going to stand pat for now have wasted a few days with all the re-installs. I just wont add any new audio plugins. We have a Windows based mahine in the studio as well if I have to use it. Iy was just super frustrating.

        Another (better) answer for the time being might be to make use of the noise reductions features of the latest Premiere beta. See here.
