Video changes size during playback (changing playback resolution "solves" it?)

Using Premiere 25.1.0, build 73. (Mac Studio M1 Pro)

I have a 4k timeline, doing some Picture in Picture, with a presenter overtop their slides. I scaled the video to 50%. When I hit play, the video jumps to 100% size. When I try to move the position, the video jumps to 100% size. When playback stops, the video returns to it's smaller 50% size.

(On a whim I changed my playback resolution to 1/2, and the video stays the correct size. I changed ti to 1/4 and the video actually gets smaler when it plays.)

Hi @mrbobdobolina - Were you able to solve your issue?  Does this happen on all workspaces?

My appologies for not providing more information.

  • Issue - When changing the scale of a media item in a timeline the scale properties are ignored during playback and other operations.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: Using Premiere 25.1.0, build 73
  • Operating system - macOS 14.2.1
  • System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
    • M1 Max

    • 64 GB Ram

    • Thunderbolt HDD Raid 0

  • Video format: Video is an h.264, 4k 29.97 video file straight from a Canon R6 mk ii. Using some JPGs in the timeline as slides for the video.
  • Workflow details: Single camera with slides shown over the video frame, perhaps PiP, maybe the video over the slides as PiP. Haven't really decided yet as it's tough to know what it will look like when the sizes change on playback.
  • Steps to reproduce - (Very important!) Insert video into timeline, change the size of the video to 50%, ensure playback resolution is FULL, hit play.
  • Expected result - The video would play, the PiP video would remain at 50% size.
  • Actual result -  The video played and the PiP returned to regular size. (Or shrunk, depending on resolution settings.)

I've uploaded a video to my Google drive for you to see.

Try setting scale to 51% to avoid this issue.

Supposed to be fixed? Might very well be the beta. Dont know for sure.

This solved this issue for me, seems like a bug.
