Have you tried transcoding with HandBrake or Shutter Encoder  as suggested in my earlier reply?

It's an mp4 video file made within the game's own recorder.

The Premiere pro seems to only import the mic sound not that game sound.

Today I did the game again, this time forcing the mic off, when I now import the file into PP, I get sound, and it shows the sound channel with sound, however after 5 seconds, the sound disapears, the waveform for the sound is still there, but no sound is happening

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot of the properties of your media in tree view:

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate before importing into Premiere Pro:
https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
Here is a tutorial:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:

It seems premiere pro only imports 1 of 2 audo channels, it seems it only imports the microphone, and I can't change it

Hi Truls27995341xyka,

Sorry about the poor experience. Is it a screen recording or a gameplay recording from OBS? Also, let us know the version of Premiere Pro you are using.

Thanks,

Sumeet
