Where to start....Audio Playback in Beta

Over the past years, I've become extremely frustrated with Premiere. The only thing that's kept me hanging on (by a thread at this point) is the suite of products that I have been using for decades. I'm tempted to switch to Resolve daily now though.

I guess I'll share my most recent struggles with Premiere...

1) I made the swtich to use Premiere Beta - since that is the only version of Premiere that seems to playback our new Canon R5c RAW footage in a way that doesn't make you want to scream. Seems like Adobe has acknowledged that they're addressing the issue, but in true Premiere fashion, way too slowly. This happened with BRAW footage too. Took Adobe WAY too long to support that format.

2) In Premiere Beta, audio playback has all kinds of issues. AUDIO PLAYBACK! What. On. Earth. Hasn't this been functional forever? How did this break? I'm running a top of the line Mac Studio. There is no way that the system can't handle the simple audio playback in my projects. Only seems to be an issue with Beta. Once again, I find a few threads online that says it's being addressed. Though I just updated again today, with the bug still not addressed.

3) COLOR. I constantly have to research why the color my exports aren't matching my Premiere program monitor.

At this point, many of my peers in other companies and long kissed Premiere goodbye and have said nothing but great things about Resolve. My patience is getting tired. I'm buried in projects at my job and while jumping into a brand new editing software isn't ideal as it will surely slow my team down, it might save time in the long run if Premiere (Adobe) doesn't soon make some basic changes to help your audience.

Hi @matthew_3268 -  I haven’t seen any Cinema RAW Light playback issues specific to macOS, so I’d say it’s safe to update to version 25.3.

Just to clarify are you actually hearing audio dropouts during playback, or are you just seeing the warning message? In 25.3, that message no longer appears.

Thanks for the reply, Jamie.

It was a few months ago I was looking up the Canon R5C issue, so I don't recall which thread I was looking at and really don't have the time to search more in depth for it. But I do recall it was in that thread that it was recommended to utilize Beta for the solve. For the Canon R5C issue, Beta did indeed fix the playback issue I was having - just at the cost of now having audio playback issues.

Are you recommending that I switch from Beta to the latest version-25.3? Would that fix the audio playback issue - while allowing smooth playback of Canon R5C files?

Hi @matthew_3268 -
Thanks for submitting your bug report! For future reference, it’s best to report one issue per submission. To help us investigate further, we’ll need a few more details about the problem.
Please see, How to Report a Problem.

I’m curious about the Canon R5C RAW footage you’re using do you mean Cinema RAW Light? What specific issues are you encountering? Hardware acceleration for this format was added in version 25.2. Also, where did you see an Adobe acknowledgment regarding the issue?

You’re right that we’re working on the audio playback problem apologies for the frustration, and thanks for your patience.

We added improved color management in Premiere Pro version 25.2.
