MP4 files sort hours out of sequence when sorting by Date Created in Bridge 16
Bridge 16 appears to display MP4 Date Created in UTC, causing incorrect chronological sorting
Environment:
-
Adobe Bridge 16
-
Windows 11
-
Google Pixel 8 Pro
-
Canon EOS 5D IV
-
Pixel files transferred via Quick Share
Issue:
When sorting mixed photo/video folders by Date Created, MP4 files appear several hours out of sequence relative to CR2, DNG, and JPEG files. There is no available sort option that correctly places all files in chronological capture order within a mixed-format folder.
Example:
Windows Properties for an MP4 show:
-
Created: 6/10/2026 5:54:09 AM
-
Modified: 6/10/2026 5:54:09 AM
-
Media Created: 6/10/2026 5:54 AM
The MP4 XMP metadata contains:
xmp:CreateDate = 2026-06-10T12:54:09Z
Bridge displays:
-
Date Created: 12:54 PM
-
Date Modified: 5:54 AM
The filename also reflects the local capture time:
VID_20260610_055403.mp4
As a result, MP4 files sort seven hours away from their actual capture time in my Pacific time zone when using Date Created, while CR2, DNG, and JPEG files sort correctly.
Expected behavior:
Bridge should either:
-
Display MP4 Date Created using the local time equivalent of the UTC timestamp, or
-
Clearly indicate that the displayed value is UTC.
Current behavior:
Bridge displays the UTC timestamp as Date Created, causing MP4 files to sort incorrectly in mixed photo/video workflows.
I can provide screenshots of Bridge, Windows Properties, and the XMP metadata if needed.
