In After Effects 26.0, during rendering Synology volume force dismounts if Multi-Frame rendering is enabled under Mac OS 15.7.4

OK, it seems like this is a known bug but I found a couple data points, some of which might be new.

The Problem: In AE 26.0, while rendering from a Synology NAS to a Synology NAS (with AE project on same NAS), during rendering, the Synology volume will be passively unmounted. It can be re-mounted without problem, but when unmounted the render fails because it can’t find the source files. Basically, in short order after starting render (w/in first 5 min or so), AE or the OS is kicking the Synology off on that computer. The Synology continues running, it just got unmounted locally.

A couple of useful details: if I disable Multi-frame rendering, the project will render successfully. This has been documented elsewhere.

HOWEVER, since I’m the weirdo with 7 various computers, I can report where it is and is NOT happening, and this isn’t happening on my Windows 10 based system, nor is it happening on my 2020 10 core iMac running 14.8.4

It IS happening on my Macs running 15.7.4 on both a 2018 Mac Mini with 32GB of RAM, a M1 Ultra based Mac Studio, and a M4 Max based Mac Studio (Studios both have 128GB of RAM).

So it seems to NOT be limited to Intel or Apple Silicon, and seems to be specific to Mac OS 15.7.4 that I’ve seen so far.

I have a 12 bay Synology 3617xs with 10GigE running their OS 7.something.

So Adobe - please fix this! Turning off multi-frame rendering slows things down notably, and I don’t always have room to render locally (big, LOOONG 4K EXR sequences) plus it is a huge logistical challenge to track and copy in a studio environment.

Post this in the After Effects forum; edit the title slightly to avoid a duplicate post error:
