Captivate

I've recently gotten my company to purchase captivate for me to build interactive training courses for our field personnel. I admit that I'm new to captivate and not sure how it all ties together yet. Once my course is complete, how do I present it to my field personnel (either on a tablet or laptop) and track their results? I keep seeing talk about LMS, is presenter necessary to present these courses? Is there something else that's required? I had a conference call with salesmen for captivate who tried to sell me captivate prime for $10,000. I asked if it is necessary to have prime in order to use captivate. They told me no and then began funneling the call to an end when they realized I wanted to explore captivate before investing 10 grand.

Hi all,I'm using Adobe Captivate 10.0.0.192 on a Macbook Pro running High Sierra (version 10.13.6). I have created a project that I've exported as both a Windows .exe and a Mac .app file. I've been able to share the .exe file without issue. I was also able to transfer the .app file onto a thumbdrive and transfer that to a Macbook that didn't have Captivate, which worked completely fine. However, when I try to send the file via a filesharing system (i.e., Dropbox or Google Drive), every user who has downloaded it has encountered this error: "[File] is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." How can I transfer a .app file successfully? I couldn't upload the .app file to Dropbox without first compressing it in a folder. I could upload the file to Google Drive, though it compresses it when it's downloaded. I'm wondering if the compression is damaging the file but I don't know how to circumnavigate that.What else can I try?

Hi all! I have created two courses where the Typekit fonts worked perfectly when published locally yesterday (I added localhost and 127.0.0.1 just to be extra sure). I found a couple errors and republished today, and neither of them work now. Is this related to the Typekit > Adobe Fonts switch, and if so, how can I embed regular fonts into the course until it's resolved?Thank you!

In my 'Software Simulation,' my mouse path skips.I've had this issue with Captivate in years past, but I am working with Captivate 2019 now and still occasionally have this issue.Anyone have a tip for getting rid of this issue?

I've created a drag and drop interaction, as well as a shared action that is to be triggered by successfully dragging and dropping the correct objections onto the correct drop targets.I've set up the shared action to trigger "On Success" for each drop target. However, when I go to change the parameters on each object and its shared action, all of the drop targets inherit those parameters. I'm guessing that there's a limitation in the drag and drop interaction that prevents you from adding multiple shared actions on drop targets, but I want to confirm before I go and change the shared action to set of individual advanced actions.Thanks!

Hello.I need to build a compliance course with a 2-hour minimum time and an inactivity limit (so the student can't just walk away and come back).If the student is inactive, for say 5 minutes, the course should close but bookmark their progress and save the time duration so far.I will be using Captivate 9, publish as SCORM 2004 and we use the cornerstone LMS.The 2-hour time minimum would include the content and final exam. The student needs to reach the minimum time and pass the final exam to get course completion.I searched for this topic in this forum and found several threads discussing some parts of this, solving them in various ways, using different Captivate versions, but I'm wondering if someone had the same issue and solved it with Captivate 9. This might be a silly question; but can you crop images that you've uploaded in Captivate?

I have a development team that is developing their first CP 2017 project.  This project is a non responsive project but the play bar is spreading the playbar icons along the bottom of the screen after publishing.  When I try creating a non responsive 2017 project and publish it the icons go to the position I set up in the skin editor.  They are remote from me and say this isn't a responsive project but it keeps spreading out the icons on the play bar.  Any ideas on what could be causing this?Thanks in advance,Susan

I'm recording a video demo and want to use an external audio recorder for the final narration. Is there a way to sync the 2 audio tracks (one recorded with my laptop's in-built mic and one recorded externally) inside Captivate or do I need to use something like Audition?

I am now having the same issue as well.CP2019 v. 11.0.1.266Published, project cache, and working folder are all on local C: driveI can build projects and record software simulations but video demo crashs immediately after selecting it. Side note: I can open existing video demos to make edits, but triggering to record a new one is what causes the crash.

I've searched for all info containing "Sakai" and there are no threads from within a year and only a second that is 5 years old. So I'm a nervous newbee suspicious that few are using Captivate+SCORM+Sakai together. I hope someone has done so (preferably recently)! We are in the initial architectural decisioning regarding an eLearning module that enables students to analyze three-dimensional models in a three.js virtualized space (I am not referring to a VR space). The students will be able to navigate the three-dimensional model to look at objects from all directions, to measure characteristics in the model, capture and recall the measurements, etc. This is the core functionality being delivered. The learning module is useful to several learning environments, so it is important to build it in a universally portable package. SCORM seems to be a good candidate. The initial LMS is Sakai. So we're assuming the Sakai SCORM player will be the manner to use the module in the first user env.

I have two text boxes in which students can put amounts and hit a calculate button for the result.  I am using the expression function with each box as a variable.  The problem is the answer generated is wrong.  It is not always off, but for the answer I need the student to get the answer is wrong.  I have a work around by adding the missing amount if the answer generated is the amount captivate keeps generating.  However, I would love to know what is really wrong.  I tried recreating the slide thinking this was just a Captivate Gremlin, but no luck.Any help would be great.

I have a pretty straightforward need to send a custom score to the LMS in my own variable.I can do this but it is overwritten by Captivate's built-in function. I know there are assorted hacks of the scormdriver code, etc., but this shouldn't be that difficult.Here's one issue I don't understand:I have two MC quiz questions. I have them marked to not report score. I assigned 50 points to each question. In quiz prefs, I have completion based upon 100% slides viewed.Quiz Pass or Fail is set up with a passing score. To me, this should be irrelevant.When exiting the course, it is marked complete based upon the quiz score OR all slides viewed, despite my having turned off question score reporting.This I do not understand. To my way of thinking, if reporting is turned off at the question level, score should not be sent to LMS, and if all slides are not viewed, status should be incomplete.I want to suppress reporting of system quiz score variable. I am building a course that will prepare learners to take a licensing exam. The exam covers 4 different domains of information. The course content will cover all 4 domains. There will be many multiple choice quiz questions throughout the course. Depending on which domain the quiz question pertains to, I want the answer to contribute to a total value assigned to a variable to reflect the learner's mastery of that particular domain. So I will have 4 variables, each indicating how well the learner has mastered the content for that domain.My question is whether and how I can I have answers to MC quiz questions change the value of an existing variable?I imagine this is a simple issue and hope someone can quickly point me in the right direction.

Hello, everyone,When I load my (HMTL5, non-responsive) coursesto LMS, the quiz feedback (correct/incorrect) sometimes comes too quickly.  I think it could be because of latency issues, since it seems to happen intermittently (sometimes it doesn't happen, when it does, it seems to happen to random questions, not the same ones).  Or perhaps when very sensitive keyboards are used, somehow a single click gets interpreted as 2 clicks, and it shows feedback for a split second before moving to the next slide (I am using the default "click anywhere" for navigation between quiz slides).  This issue is virtually non-existent in Captivate.Does anyone else experience this issue and has anyone figured out what can be done to mitigate it?  It is a pretty serious flaw, especially since we're using those quizzes test bank for the final test, and it's important for students to know what the correct answer was, not just get it right. 

I am new and trying to figure this stuff out. When I use interaction insert and insert a YouTube video (I put in the URL for the video etc..). Then I use the “preview live on deceives” it the gives you a QR code. When I view it on Apple phones it works fine and the screen will go landscape and full screen. When I try it on android it will not turn landscape and will not go full screen, the button on YouTube is greyed out.

We have custom previous and next buttons in our module. Our client want to deactivate the next button until the end user finishes the slide and then have it active once they've viewed it. Plus, have their LMS remember each users location in order to continue at a later time. Has anyone figured out a solution? If so, could you please share?

Is there a way to, when the learner reaches the end of the course, set the slide view percent to 100? Looking for ways around possible network latency issues with HTML5 courses... would like to explore using variables, etc., to incorporate learner attestation rather than lowering slide view reqs. I'm using Presenter 11.1 build v.193 with PowerPoint 2010.Bug #1 Effect: After Animation: Hide after animation: does not work at all; this can even cause problems on subsequent slides - used to create a series of callouts where elements appear and disappear on next click. A problem on single element like a box, but even worse with grouped elements (see Bug #2)Bug #2 Grouped object's elements render depth can be out of order. Is the Presenter plugin using the Open XML to convert to HTML5? I don't see any depth attribute used when saving a powerpoint as xml. it appears the id attribute number is used to assign depth along with the order elements as they are instantiated on the canvas. When the slide is converted to HTML5 the instantiated element order changes. The elements within a group either need to be instantiated in the same order they are instantiated (with element ID) in PowerPoinnt or the depth attribute needs to be applied in the conversion to HTML5.

Why can't I copy/paste slide notes in Captivate 2017? This is pretty basic, but neither right click nor ctrl c works.

hi there,I´m using Captivate 9 (9.0.2.437) on my Mac. After update to MacOS Mojave a few weeks ago, i have problems to publish my projects to HTML5. After publishing on my local machine and on my webserver there is only the loading spinnig wheel. Before the update the projects worked fine.Any ideas?ThanksKarsten

I have a KC slide with a multiple choice question (with multiple correct answers). I have some custom buttonsadded to show whether an answer is right or wrong. What I want to do is have the user either a) click a button and reload the slide, or b) continue with the module. The continue button works fine. The issue is that the checkboxes don't clear on reload.I did something similar with a drag/drop scenario (huge shoutout to Lilybiri for her advice), using some advanced actions. The thread for that is here. I've created actions for when the slide loads, and also when the user clicks a reset button I've created.I created a variable v_enter, and on enter I assigned it with cpInfoCurrentFrame. When I click the Reset button, I have an Expression which is cpCmndGotoFrameAndResume = v_enter -2.When I click the reset button, first the slide reloads. However, the Submit button is disabled, and then it goes on to the next slide anyway.Is there a way around this? (by the way, this KC is the only

Hi there,Trying to get my head around subscribing to the event listeners coming with cpAPIInterface. I am able to subscribe to CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED event listener, specifying the variable that I want to monitor through a parameter; e.g.:eventEmitterObj.addEventListener( 'CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED', myfunction, 'cpInfoCurrentFrame' )However, Adobe's documentation here says that providing that parameter would actually be optional: From that I understand that it should be possible to omit it and have the event listener listening to all variables at the same time, firing whenever one of them experiences a change of value. Can't get it to work though. Does it just read 'optional' because it's not required for all other event listeners in the cpAPIEventEmitter Object, but is still required for the CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED event listener?
