Hi, I'm sure this question is on this forum somewhere, but I couldn't find it anywhere... Now, first forgive my noobness, but I can't seem to figure it out.I have a client that I have created labels for (in Illustrator). They are for her skin care products. Some labels are printed on matte paper and the Pantone colors I've used, she really likes (Pantone Uncoated colors). However, for her waterproof labels, the paper is obviously different (coated) and so naturally the color is drastically different.I've never had to match C and U colors before. So, I understand the reasons why the color is different, but I don't know the best way to correct the issue. Is it as simple as taking the same Pantone color U and finding it's a Coated version? Thank you for any pointers.
HI, we have a bit of a unique case use that I'm looking for some tips or advice on. Trying to get a better soft-proof match to final output from a specific vendor. We are outputting large panels with historic text & images onto 3M vinyl with a matte laminate. For this project, all photos are saved as grayscale, then colorized in InDesign in CMYK (using foreground/background color swatches). Some of the colors are very light, almost 'pastel' colors, that shift a great deal visually with a small percentage movement in value. To properly set colors, we asked our print vendor to provide a profile for us based on the device that will be outputting, on the 3M vinyl we'll be using, and with the matte laminate applied. They sent us an initial profile that just skewed colors a bit more than I had expected, so they made a completely new profile, making sure to laminate the swatch patch before measuring and profiling. So I have to assume this profile is as good as we're going to get from
Hi all, I just purchased a new monitor (BenQ SW2700PT) and have now noticed that the colours are very different between different CC applications on the same monitor. In Bridge, under Color settings, it says that CC applications are synchronised but I am still seeing quite a difference.Bridge and Camera Raw colors seem to be the same but Photoshop is not. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help will be very much appreciated.
Pantone + Coated Library in Color PickerFor example, Panotne 354 has different RGB, HSB & # values on Macintosh A compared to Macintosh B for the same Pantone color in the same library. Both have similar versions of Cloud Photoshop. (2017)The Lab and CMYK numbers are identical, but the HSB & RGB & Hex values are not.FYI- Photoshop color settings are identical (Adobe RGB Working space) too. What the heck is going on?
Hi all, I'm about to lose my mind. Some background: I'm a photographer who is trying to print some marketing materials for potential clients. I've gone to 4 different printers, and in my hasty decision making process even had one of the printers print me 100 copies (haste makes waste). In all the proofs I received there is some color shifting and the photos (more cool in most, one printer was more magentaish), in particular one of the photos, is sooooo dark!I know RGB-> CMYK does this. Not one of the printers I worked with had an ICC profile to send me. So I downloaded some random ones just to play around and view what it would look like. Can see significant color shifting, but it does not effect the darkness of the photo. I still see a well lit photo, until it's printed. My histogram looks good, with even a bulk of it to the right of middle. What am I doing wrong? I can't for the life of me understand gamuts and spot colors, and I have no idea what else. Speak to me simple, I just do
hi all, another question here. My booklets were printed with a whole ton of noise in them. This is not in my photos nor is it on my home inkjet prints, or on other proofs I received. But with 2 different printers it appeared on them. One printer said the dpi they printed with at 600 could have actually been too high. Is that a possibility. ? see attached photo
I recently had an issue with an online printer doing a dye sub table cover for me. I made the color C100+M100 expecting to get a dark purple, as is shown in the Pantone CMYK formula guide. When I received it, it was a cobalt blue color. Here is the response I received from the company:One of our representatives has responded to your claim for job A613220-01/(171792) please see below.Hello, After reviewing your claim ticket we will be unable to reprint this order. 100% Cyan and magenta is the composite for a blue print. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience but since we do not offer color matching and the values are not correct for a purple print. Thank YouI called them to discuss and they 100% said I was wrong, and that this CMYK formula will print blue. I first politely asked them what reference book they were using to draw this conclusion. They told me they do not have any CMYK swatch books in their facility since they do not "color match or print Pantone colors", but that the
I am currently waiting for my new monitor to arrive. It is a BenQ sw320 monitor which is capable of displaying 99% of AdobeRGB and is also capable of being calibrated at the hardware level via their Palette Master software and an x-rite i1 display pro. I intend to have it calibrated to adobeRGB for color critical photography workMy question is, since hardware calibrating the monitor stores that information on the monitor itself, what should the color management settings in windows be? Should I clear it from using any .icm profiles to make sure windows or my graphics card are not making any changes? or should it be using one provided by the monitor manufacturer or something?
Hi!I just spent quite a few hours to perfect the color of my image, only to find out that my Color Settings on my Mac had reverted to default! In other words, to an uncalibrated color profile (Color LCD it is called). At first I hoped this would be an easy fix. It turned out it was not, at least not for me. What I tried to do is: 1. Set monitor profile settings on my Mac to the calibrated color profile 2. In photoshop assign the uncalibrated color profile to the sRGB photo(3. In photoshop convert to sRGB color profile)This would revert the damage done, right? The problem is I can't assign the Color LCD in Photoshop. I tried to put it in different locations, but to no avail. It's greyed out. Is there any difference between these two .icc profiles, explaining this? Please help!Noguestpost
Can someone point me in the direction of the best value for money color calibration tool? Should I buy a calibration tool or a calibrated monitor like EIZO? Right now I'm doing and learning everything on standard 15" laptop screen which is not very good. I just want what I see on my monitor to match my prints.
Hi guys,This is probably one for you Andrew ';~}Is anyone still editing icc profiles? I'm fully aware that the received wisdom is "garbage in garbage out" so that editing is generally only needed in the case of poor characterisation data. But there is a place perhaps where a clever edit tool might really help. When printer profiles (especially for OBA paper) are in for Photoshop's view / softproof / custom / paper white simulation option. As an example the profile "coated GRACoL 2006 (ISO 12647-2:2004)" [part of the photoshop installation] and the newer CGATS21_CRPC6 V2.icc both give quite a bluish preview when Photoshop's simulate paper white is invoked. It's not a great match for the paper itself. So we could edit the A2B intent which would not affect the RGBx.icc > CMYKx.icc conversion (that needs to be left alone), just CMYKx.icc > RGBdisplay.icc, basically. Could be useful for places where a really good match is needed. Just for softproofing though, since that A2B table
Hello, I've got the brand new UltraFine display which is supposed to display DCI-P3.I'm just trying to compare pictures exported in DCI-P3 and sRGB and RGB and I can't find no difference. I don't know what's wrong.I'm pretty new to this so help would be really appreciated. By the way, shooting on D5100sRGBDisplay P3RGB
Hi Everyone,Just wanted to ask a question in relation to the Intent options in PS Print Dialog Box.If you have saved a file to print at a later date, which has been converted to a specific paper's colour profile space (using a specific printer and ink set), you've obviously chosen a specific intent to make that conversion. So, when you do decide to print, will the choice of Perceptual or Relative Intent that's in PS Print Dialog box have any affect on the print that's produced? Or since the conversion has already taken place, does it not effect the final outcome?
I created a document in RGB in PhotoshopCS6, and then converted a jpg from that in a duplicate copy of that document as a CMYK image. I brought it into an InDesignCS6 document and exported as a Print PDF and the colors are much paler than the original JPG.I've looked through the boards here and other online forums, but nothing suggested is working. I've tried different color profiles in both photoshop and indesign and nothing has worked. If anyone has any advice or could help in any way it would be much appreciated (even if it is something I might have missed using color profiles). I haven't had this issue with any other pdfs before so help would be much appreciated!Thank you!Edited to add images of issue: The first is the much paler PDF:The second is the original, correctly colored JPG:Message was edited by: Suzanna Maltby-Duggan
Hi,I have a, judging from extensive googling, rather unusual task at hand: I have a CMYK-color, and a DeviceLink-file (RGB->CMYK, taking care of black-text-staying-black), and need to figure out what RGB-color corresponds (best) to the CMYK-color.I am operating on PDF's, that are generated from scraping webpages (RGB) and the resulting PDF will be sent to a print shop, thus the requirement of ending up with CMYK-color codes.I am using GhostScript and Adobe Photoshop, but can't see a way to let the computer solve the riddle, and trying the manual approach has not proven successful so far.BR,Ulrik
Hello,I am having a problem with matching the colors in my Pantone book with the colors on my screen. My screen is calibrated with the colormunki display. The adobe suite is synchronized and I use fogra39 as my working space.I have looked up a color in my Pantone+ uncoated guide: a deep dark red (1797c). However, when selecting the swatch in illustrator it shows up as a pinkish red. It does not match the color book at all! Also, the cmyk values of this swatch are entirely different than what is is in the guide. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Ps. I have overprint view on and use lab colors to show spot colors. My monitor is normal gamut, but I can reproduce the color with my own cmyk mix. So my monitor can reproduce the color. On my iPad (Pantone app) and in de Pantone manager I also see this pinkish red color, which does not match the color in the book...Thanks!
OK, I will write this step by step and hopfully it will be simple to understand.Today I calibrated my monitor with x-rite i1 display pro. I did everything right and at the end I got this new profile, that I marked it with date, so I will know in the future, when it was made. After that, I went to my WIN 10 coior manegement and assign this new profile as Default (previously it was sRGB IEC61966-2.1). See image:And in Advanced options, I have this default settings:In Photoshop, I also changed Color settings to this new profile:Now, images in windows photo viewer and in Photoshop, they all look ok and the same. But in LR, previews are dull, no colors, different than in Photoshop. If I export image from LR to JPG and than upload to PS, image looks ok.How can I fix the look of the image in LR? I have sRGB chosen there. I guess it should be "this new profile" but in LR I can not find any Color settings like in PS.What am I doing wrong? Were my steps of calibrating process OK?Any help would be
First, for those that don't know, a padded color is a CMYK color that is using CMY as well as Black to achieve a darker color, in simplified terms. It is most commonly used with 100%K, adding color to produce a more rich black. But I have always been bothered by how Adobe translates color. Plug in the color #44431f. You'll see some fairly high numbers. Go print that CMYK color out, 61,53,93,51. You'll notice it is Much darker than you would expect. What's interesting is some other software turn that number into a non-padded color, getting most of it's value from black, as you would expect. Plug that same number into google, and you'll see different CMYK values. It converts it to 0,1,54,73.. Print that bad boy out and you'll see that it is pretty much the color you're expecting. (by the way, this is pretty much the Ugliest color out there, but it's a good example because of where it sits in value.)So printing the RGB color out produces results as I would expect them. Printing CMYK result
Dear friends,Can I ask for your help please?I was asked to provide a Pantone colour value to the printers. So I've found this PANTONE 2322 C - find a PANTONE Color beautiful colour. Unfortunately, I was told they were not able to find it in their book...I was asked by a friend in my office to look into her book "Pantone Color guide for Fashion & Home" as the printers are using the same. So I've provided them with the value found in the book which should work. Unfortunately, I'm not able to find these values in the Ai. This makes me confused even more. I thought that Pantone Colour Bridge would suffice. However, in these books I can't see anywhere values like "19-1218 TPX" which can be found in "Pantone Color guide for Fashion & HomeCan someone explain to me which book should I use for print design?Thank you kindly in advance,Damian

Hello togehter,i have a problem with my created colors in my library.Let me explain for better understanding.I created some presets of colors for our company. When i doubleclick on the created color, the code is exactly what i defined before. But if a create a object (for example square) and i try to fill the object with the created color, the settings are not the same.Sometimes the color is like the defined setting and sometimes it´s a absolutely other setting. This is a big problem, because i like to share this setting with our team.Any solutions for this problem???
Does anybody have experiences about the replacement of inks for Epson Stylus Pro 7890by inks by this manufacturer?Ink for Epson Stylus Pro | Products | easy inks - Inks Made in Germany The manufacturer says:"Therefore there will be no re-profiling necessary when changing to our inks. Our ink can be mixed with the original inks without any problems and can besuccessively exchanged one by one."Is this true? Thanks for sharing experiences.Best regards --Gernot Hoffmann
Hi folksI'm on what I think is a bug hunt, that I'm pretty sure I discovered some years ago, but can't find the original posts. It involves the numerical values of colours across Adobe desktop applications and Adobe Color CC.The applications I've found issues in, are the following:Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and the online resource, Adobe Color CCBasically, I have found discrepancies in numerical values within the Color Palette Window, and the Color Picker Window, and whatever you want to call the window in Dreamweaver.I've used the iOS app myPANTONE as my starting reference. Follows, some values for yourselves, to see if you can relocate this issue. Hi all,First post in these forums and really hoping for someone will have some insights on this issue I've been trying to solve for months now.I'm a little behind with my software, running LR4 and PS CS5. It's worked fine for me on this computer for a long time before this...My issue is that none of my images are rendered correctly in photoshop or lightroom, but they look fine in other programs (eg., paint, windows 10 photos app, but not the windows photo viewer). The only way I can get the images to look correctly is to proof view them for monitor RGB. That tells me it must be a colour management issue. I've played around with all the colour management settings in lightroom and photoshop, but nothing has worked. The image below is a crop of a screenshot showing the correct appearance in the windows 10 photos app (left) and ugly photoshop version (right). Does anyone have any ideas???
