Dreamweaver

Just as the title says. I'm not "hating" and I'm not some kid who thinks life is a free ride. I recently tried Dreamweaver as my top choice for a web development platform with high hopes from a name I have trusted like Adobe and was fairly disappointed. I really wanted to love it, and it had a few things I really did love. But... Dreamweaver lacks features which should be standard in "traditional" style web builders in 2020, such as drag and drop functionality, as well as far more CSS design features than the half-baked setup Dreamweaver offers. Instead of purchasing a subscription of $20/mo for Dreamweaver, I bought a $50 license for Pinegrow. Web development software like Pinegrow have far outpaced Dreamweaver in every way. So, thing is... shame on Adobe for charging $20/mo for a glorified text editor and half-baked CSS designer. When I try and preview the page, I get ... >> You tried to access an external HTML page, which can not be opened on the device for preview. Open the page in Dreamweaver to preview the page on the device. << The page IS open in Dreamweaver on my local computer, but it is not connected to the serverIn DW 8, this just worked. Besides Dreamweaver? Hopefully a WYSIWYG type program because I don't know coding. I asked this a few years ago and am hoping there's something new I can use. my website is being converted over to Word Press but until that happens would be nice to edit my website.

Hi,I've seen a few people with this error but not a solution that seems to work.Using SFTP I get the following error:An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host.Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information.From the same computer & with the same server / login details WinSCP makes a connection no problem. Turning off Windows Firewall makes no difference. If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

Hi,I am trying to refresh an external stylesheet that is referenced in my html page. ie: (<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://somesite.com/custom.css">) Since it is not a local file, clicking the refresh at the bottom right of the files panel does not refresh the external file.  Clicking out of the tab and back into it doesnt refresh either.  I still see the old styles. I can't find a way to force refresh external files. This is driving me bonkers becasue I need to often pull the latest version of the css file which is changing often while im developing.  Pulling in a local copy will just make matters worse as Im not the only devleoper on the project.  So we update a common css file that we are both using to work with.Any help/tricks/workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,todd

No company/individual producing this trash workflow gives a crap about web-development , just how much money they can make, producing quality to them is immaterial. Just go to the part where he disects the code at the end of the video..............hmmmm.  

Hello, all, I seem to remember in previous versions of Dw that if I did a find or find/replace, I could save it for future reference.  I'm using Dw CC 18.2.1, and I'm not seeing this ability.  Or is it just not intuitive and I'm skipping right over it? V/r, ^ _ ^

I have purchased dreamweaver to building my client's websites. I have never used an application software like this before. I found out that I needed to purchase a webhost provider. I invested more money into Bluehost. I bought a package that has SSL certifactions, maleware protection, unlimited domian names, e-commerce. I wanted to connect everything to dreamweaver. No one who works for Bluehost nor Adobe , knows how to do it. Connecting the applications to the dreamweaver sit I am building. I also have been watching video's on youtube: bring your own laptop. And www.w3schools.com, to learn coding and how to use html and css. And my codes are saying my closing tags are not connecting to the open tags. And the other picture is saying I am missing the main.css. Can anyone help me? Coding websites or tutiorals. How to fix these problems? How to connect the products from Bluehost to dreamweavet.

I Always have problems with either the browser preview or inside of the softwer preview. They are always not working properly. How do I Fix that once for all?

i would like to add a hyperlink or hotspot link to an area of my svg file i have embeded into my dreamweaver file, i have tried various ways so far including embedding into the svg file code but the results have been unsuccesfull. can anyone help?

At the below page is a list of names.  I'd like to format it as in Word's newspaper columns feature.  So when you insert another name into the list, the list expands and flows into the next column.' e.g.. say I insert a new entry in the list in column one, that column shifts down one line and if necessary, flows into column two which also expands to cater for the new entry.  At the moment this is a table based layout and adding new entries requires a new row, resulting in empty cells in the other colmns.  My attempts to solve this with Grid did not seem to work.  Any ideas ? I have setup a MySQL Database called 'knights' using the XAMPP product. The Apache and MYSQL modules are running. Using phpMyAdmin product the knights database was built. In DW I tried to use the Datbase connection tool but have been unable to connect to the database.The following are the field entries entered.Document type: PHPMySQL ConnectionConnection name: data_connectionMySQL: loaclhost:80/knightsUser Name: user1Password: **** When clicking on the Select button another window opens indicating that the databases are loading. Within seconds I receive the following error window. Http Error Code 404 file not found. Here are some possible resons for the problem. 1) Their is not testing server running on the server machine.2) The testing server specified for this site does not map to the http://localhost:80/_mmServerScrpits/MMHTTPDB.php URL. Vefify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

J'ai réinstallé le logiciel qui fonctionne parfaitement sauf l'accès à l'aide : dernier menu à droite : Aide / Aide de Dreamweaver F1 Lorsque je clique ou presse F1, j'ai un message : "Le système d'aide ne peut être lancé car le dossier d'aide est introuvable. Veuillez installer le dossier d'aide ou consulter le manuel" Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider ? Merci par avance ;=)

I recently upgraded to Dreamweaver CC. I am not a full time developer and really liked the ease of the Add Record, Update, and Master Page Wizards I had in version 5.5. I have added the server behavior but do not see any of the wizards or the ability to add them? Are there wizards available in this latest version of DW? Thanks.

It's driving me insane as to why, but my chrome preview will not update when I change my CSS. Firefox and Safari update, but not chrome. I've restarted my Mac, but nothing happened.What can I do within Chrome to clear the cache (or whatever) for a specific site rather than have to clear for all sites?

Hello & HELP!  I purchased Dreamweaver last year after Contribute was dropped by Adobe. I built my complete website using Contribute, but I'm having lots of trouble with Dreamweaver. I am trying to do simple editing, but a pop-up keeps saying "page is checked out by (me) - do you want to over ride?" I am the sole user.I am able to 'Get" a page and do some editing, but it will not let me "put" that edited page.Also, the "check-in" button is locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it. Any simple suggestions in layperson terms (I'm basically useed to Contribute). Thanks in advance! John

Why does Adobe permit third-party vendors (i.e., "Partners") to scam its customers via the Exchange? There is a Dreamweaver Exchange vendor called "DWUser.com" that sells extensions that do not work and cannot be activated. The Developer in question does not answer support emails and appears to be out of business, yet Adobe is still selling his crappola in the Exchange, thereby knowingly ripping-off its customers. Others have apparently already complained about this, yet this dirtbag vendor is still in the Exchange.  Someone should sue both Adobe and this vendor. 

I cannot find Support files of this book: Abobe Dreamweaver CC Classroom in a book (2014 Edition).Anyone can help me?Pls.
