See above!! So if I create a text layer and then duplicate and move it and then take text from PSD, want the option like I have in all the other apps, to be able to drop that new text content but take the text box settings in AE, NOT keep the settings from PSD. Thanks!

In OSX,  Command+Option+Shirt+V will paste without formatting ,  doesn't appear to work in AE tho, but couild be a nice key combo to add.

The feature is currently in Beta, and coming soon to a non-Beta release.

Long time coming, we know, but this is now available in Beta builds (25.2.0.117 and above).

Whenever I have to do it I paste the text around marks in an expression in the Source Text property... but yes, I believe After Effects should have this option.

Yes there are plenty of workarounds...

I do want this ability, but I think the default should remain as-is where text formatting is preserved when copy/pasting between Adobe apps. I need to preserve designer's kerning/formatting, but still need live type for animation.

Instead, how about using the more standard Control+Shift+V to paste as plain text? (Option+Shift+Command+V on Mac I suppose). Would definately be a quality of life improvement and work as expected compared to other applications.
