With the addition of Variable Type to Illustrator, I would love to see supported in After Effects. The ability to interpolate between the many variables available would be a huge benefit in motion design, streamlining the current process and saving eons of time from the current arduous method. It would open doors to some pretty amazing things.

adobe is lagging behind the industry probably 5 years... so we have to only wait another 3 years till this gets implemented 😄 ...

It's rather amazing that you can already animate variable fonts using CSS in any major web browser, but not in After Effects. In WEB browsers!

Do you know how long it takes to get new standards through the W3C? And the most head-slappingly obvious Adobe app to be the first candidate to animate variable fonts is After Effects.

But both InDesign and Illustrator get support first?

I'm guessing it will be all the mobile apps that get variable font support next.

I would expect at least some reaction from the Adobe team. Dead silence still suprises me.

This reminds me to the OpenType interface petition from 2014… And also to this presentation (“18 = 96,” 2018): https://youtu.be/tGL5VSGwG3s?t=1688
