P: Ability to copy/sync settings/adjustments across a group of photos

It seems that I am unable to copy or sync adjustments to multiple images in the new LRCC? I just imported/uploaded my first job with over 1200 RAW files, and need to set my base contrast/saturation/sharpening to all the RAW files before I begin my select edits. For some reason my "paste edit settings" is greyed out when I have multiple images selected. I'm assuming this may be some sort of user error on my part, there is no way a professional photo editing tool would not allow the use of base settings applied to a group of photos. However even when I go back to "add photos", there is no option to apply a preset on import like in the old Lightroom? Adobe please help! LRCC is obviously useless to me if I have to Ctrl/Copy Ctrl/Paste 1200 times a day... Thank you,

Yea, think of a wedding for example. Through the day you are in different lighting and using different lenses. Most photographers avg 100-300 pictures per hour. The editor will likely do this:
1. Imported images are ranked and culled
2. A few of the highest rated are quickly edited and posted to IG
3. All of the photos are separated into “groups “ or scenes that get photos with similar lighting together
4. One of the photos in the series is edited with a preset and adjusted to correct exposure
5. Editor syncs(copies preset) to all photos in a group from the first edit, and will only adjust exposure
6. This process repeats for all groups

Now that gets you a complete gallery pretty fast (3-4 hrs)
Some photographers like to retouch or use photoshop actions selectively, but we don’t bc that’s not our style and Lightroom does enough to make that unnecessary.

I assume we are the norm based on the multiple FB photographers groups we are involved in, but maybe not.

I learned how to shoot in manual mode 2 weeks ago.  Downloaded Lightroom CC expecting this would be something basic to do, especially as I don't know much (anything) about editing photos. Being able to auto adjust all my photos as I learn seems pretty obvious.  Everyone keeps saying Lightroom CC is not for "professionals" - I'm certainly not a professional and this function seems like a beginner would need. I honestly thought a professional would want to edit each photo individual so this is good to hear.  #themoreyouknow

I do not even believe that Lightroom CC is NOT meant to be successor of Lightroom despite all you say Rick. It wouldn't make any sense. It is like saying Photoshop CC is not meant to be successor of Photoshop. It is more like "Oh, the  new Lightroom CC is not as good as expected, let's rebrand both and smile like this is OK". It is not OK but honestly we all know Lightroom CC is on its half way since the day it was announced. I hope all the missing features will be added rather sooner than later but please do not pretend that Lightroom CC should be something that different from original Lightroom. I can totaly undarstand that Lightroom CC and Lightroom (Classic) are two separate products at the moment as they are because Lightroom CC is not ready yet.

I know I keep saying this but please understand that Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC are two separate products. One is not the newer or older version of the other. If you don't like the feature set of LrCC then continue to use Classic.

I like certain aspects of LrCC so I use it for my personal stuff. I'm a theater and live event photographer so my work stuff involves culling thousands of images down to a couple hundred with a fast turnaround. LrCC doesn't work well for that so I use Classic.

It's not that one is bad or good. It's just about which tool fits the job.

Again, thanks for the input!

OMG, I am so glad I have the older version. I will not be getting a subscription for a tool that causes more work, more labor and time to accomplish what an older version will do.

Whoever made that decision at Adobe should be reassigned to HR.....

Rick.. Sorry if I keep pointing this out but the original pitch for CC was “Built for professionals and enthusiasts, the new Lightroom CC fulfills the demands of today’s photographers for a more accessible, cloud-based photography service for editing, organizing, storing and sharing their photos from wherever they are.”

Directly from the press release:
“As the leader in digital photography, today Adobe is unveiling Lightroom CC, our next generation photography service,” said Bryan Lamkin, executive vice president and general manager, Digital Media at Adobe. “Lightroom CC answers photographers’ demand for a deeply integrated, intelligent, cloud-based photography solution.”

Let’s unpack this.. “Built for Professionals” as we have discussed.. no it’s not yet ready bc photo “professionals” have the need for batch editing.

As I said before this platform is frustratingly close to solving this problem. While lacking batch editing and preset syncing, it does meet the needs of a professional photographer. Does it have a place as its built? Yes just for minor work on the go and maybe changing existing images or displaying portfolio on the go.

Hi Brad,

I can't tell you if or where this feature is in the pipeline because I don't know. I can tell you that it is under consideration along with all the other popular requests.

You spoke earlier of Lightroom CC as the successor to Lightroom Classic and that isn't the case. Lightroom CC is a completely new offering and was designed with a more mobile workflow in mind. It was never intended to have all the features of Lightroom Classic but hat doesn't mean that it won't inherit some! Since it was launched, LrCC has already had many new features like, Tone Curves, Split Toning, Watermarks, Enhanced Auto Tone, Full Screen, etc. etc.

With your interest and input it will keep evolving so thank you for that. For now it sounds like Lightroom Classic is the better fit for your workflow and just keep an eye on Lightroom CC.

Thanks again,

Rick
