P: Option to disable the preview in "Save for Web"

Hi,

I work intensive on websites and other digital media (such as apps) and use slices and "save for web" all the time.

When I have a big file with many slices on it and only want to save one or two, photoshop creates a preview of the whole file. This takes a some time. I often don ́t need this optimization feature, because every slice has set the correct file preset already.

For example I see that a color or gradient has to be changed on the page. I make some slightly color change at one slice (on a big image file with many slices) and start "save for web". It makes a big preview and I have to wait before I can save.
One "trick" I use is to crop my image to a small size with the needed slices, save for web and the undo. But when I forget to undo and save.....its big sh** 😉

● So I only want, that there is in the save for web & devices dialog a checkbox "create preview".

● Also it would be a solution to simply save the last state of the tabs in the preview area. So when I switch to "Original" it remembers next time and only start to create a preview when I change to "Preview" or "2-Up" etc.

● A smarter additional feature would be (for me and the growing mass of people working only digital) to have a faster method to save only one slice without start a (oldschool) dialog for that. For example a small save-icon (a disk!?) in the corner of every slice. Like now with the number. The type of image preset could be adjusted in the slices options panel.

Hope to get some feedback.

3 years since I originally posted here, still waiting for Adobe to come to the table. After seeing the mess of Substance, guessing we're never going to see user requested features.

everyone in the world who uses photoshop: "hey can you add the possibility of disabling preview, so we dont have to waste hours of our lives every week?"

photoshop developers: "no! we cannot implement every silly idea that some users have. We ourselves personally do not have any issues with you having to endure meaningless hours of painful waiting time every month of your life, and therefore we do not see any reason to implement the requested feature. Feel free to try out GIMP which suck even more lolz"

Really Adobe? Still? "We can't implement every single idea"... This is not some idea. It is a serious issue. To be honest it is a big reason to use other software!

Hey Diko, one great workaround i have for this issue is to use Image Processor Pro... there's a tickbox in that for using Save for Web, so you can select all your files in Bridge, then go Tools>Ps>IPP>SFW. It's 10x faster than manually saving each image and waiting for the preview.

And yes, i 100% agree that we need to be able to disable the preview in SFW.

Another 7 or more years old that Adobe don't care about a feature named bug.

Come on guys. It shouldn't be so difficult to make a tick for auto and no-auto preview so one could easily downsize previews on the fly.

I have 5 different options for a project that I have to communicate with the client. One and the same file. Just different backgrounds from layers.

The final and the working image file is 45 MPs I need 2048 version. I don't need automatic anything. Just a damned tick. So next time when I save for web NOT to wait for the bloody 45 MP version to "optimize a preview". And if I want to be able after I downsize to view the small preview.

@Jeffrey, do you believe it to be that hard? I mean the coding part of "yes", or "no"? 😉

Just an hour or so of a single developer to implement it. Upon a creation of the "Safe for web" window to check if should start the "optimize preview function..."

Back in the days (how long was it? 10 years?) with the first implementation of ""Safe for web" wasn't there that checkbox?

you should do that in Premiere if you have it. you can render your video to GIF format easily. though you have to build it again.

To ALL designers and progammers, lets band together and make our own app. Photoshop obviously couldn't careless about the customers, so lets build something for US, the way we want it!

This is a really good idea. Please just implement it.
