I must say that full screen apps is a wonderful idea. I can start in such a way some of the apple apps (safari, imail, numbers) - I like switching between them. It will be desirable to enable this option for Ligtroom & Photoshop (both CS and Elements) to behave in similar way under new Mission Control stuff...

This kind of thing takes time.

Yeah, this is great. And while I will understand if you guys say no, it is worth pointing out that when Microsoft Office adopts an OS feature before you, you are risking being on the wrong side of history.

Thanks Jeffrey, that sounds like some actual potential progress. Hopefully something does come from this. Do appreciate you taking this back to the team.

I remember way back when Full-Screen Mode came out, Adobe released a video featuring a young guy talking about how Adobe was going to implement all these cool new features that Apple was releasing; among those was full-screen mode. Never heard a word mentioned about implementing full-screen mode since.

That's a fair point actually. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't use Apple's auto layout code. But regardless, we have absolutely no replies that this is stuck because of something like technical difficulties. As I said, we just have a single word that says Adobe's full screen mode trumps OS X's full screen from 5 years ago.

UI manipulation across the board would be trickier with altering code, but if they started doing this even a year back, it would have been long done by now. Nobody from staff is even responding anymore, it's just like they don't care. With El Capitan coming, this harshly needs a re-evaluation for a toggle switch.

I have a feeling that in Adobe's case they are under some sort of technical debt that would require them to re architect their view code in order to implement full screen. Maybe they don't use auto layout. Hell, they PROBABLY don't use auto layout. And if they share UI code between apps it may be that they have to change all their apps at the same time and debug for that etc. I am not excusing them, but technical debt can be difficult to overcome, see iTunes.

Michael, I undoubtedly exaggerated in using the "lunch break" analogy, but it's also not as difficult as you think. I've done programming before, it makes up about a quarter of my career profession. Apple allows easy updating of software to implement these simple features. It's why you see almost every single modern application using them. Adobe software is that one dirty loose end I can't add to my workflow efficiently because it just sits in Mission Control eating up its own space. Open more than one Adobe program at a time and it slowly becomes a nightmare.

Sure, ONE guy can't do it on his "lunch break", but a small team from their large overall workforce can easily do it, and I have no qualms in saying that. Even software with rusty old sites like GrandPerspective have full screen support for their software. They don't update their site's look, but they implement their software to have full screen. That's how simple it is for a team, especially one of Adobe's caliber and size. It can be done easily for them, I assure you.

This issue is only sitting still because of the one official answer Jeffrey Tranberry provided for us 3 years ago. I respect that the answer was very likely valid in its points 3 years back, but workflow has drastically changed into Mavericks, Yosemite and now El Capitan. This isn't Lion anymore, and we need to be able to use full screen to organize our workflows. El Capitan's multitasking feature will make using Adobe software an even bigger nightmare soon.

Thomas, implementing full screen is not necessarily as easy as you might think. While I agree that it should be on Adobe's list of priorities, the Adobe suite's use of floating windows & panel elements makes full screen far too complicated for one programmer to do on his "lunch break".
