Text alignment should not shift text position

Why not make it so that when you change the text alignment (left, center, or right), the text stays in the same position in the layout instead of jumping left, right, or to the center?

Quite often you need to change the text alignment while keeping it in exactly the same place.

If you change text alignment in a word processor, the text moves. That is literally what you are doing, changing the positioning. One thing you can do is reduce the size of the text bounding box to fit. Convert from paragraph to point text and then immediately back, and the bounding box will shrink. I don’t know if that helps but its useful when doing text alignment, I use this in an script/action where I automate pulling metadata from XMP and putting it as a formatted text layer on images.
