Until this is built in, here is a workaround for anyone on a Mac. I make it, so weigh that.

BeatMaxing is a plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro. It listens to the song on your timeline and drops a marker on each kick, snare and hi-hat, or on every drum hit. Each marker lands on the frame of the hit, on the clip that is already on your timeline. Nothing is uploaded.

What it is not: it is not the bar and beat grid this request asks for. It marks the drums it hears. It needs macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and Premiere Pro 25.6 or newer. No Windows and no Intel Macs.

It is free until Sat Nov 14, 2026, and a paid subscription after that: https://www.beatmaxing.com/?utm_source=premiere-forum

If it puts a marker in the wrong spot on your song, tell me which song and which moment. That is how it gets better.

Oh my god this is still not done yet? What version are we on now? I’ve moved to DaVinci since a year ago but a prior client project required Premiere so I’m back on this trash software. This sucks, this absolutely sucks. Genuinely so abhorrently indifferent of a company and dismissive of continued threads and asks by paying customers. It’s kind of shameful really. Over 20k views on this topic.

Apparently this is a feature on Premiere Mobile and Premiere Elements?? hahahahaha take this money from my cold dead hands

Seriously! If users asking for a single feature for 12+ years doesn’t show Adobe there’s a problem, I don’t know what would.

It is now October of 2026. All prior beat detection threads have been merged to this one. A constant trudge of over 10 years of users begging, pleading, crying for a very basic fundamental tool that is found in ALL other non-linear video editing programs. Some for free (like mobile apps!!!!), some for one time payment (like the holy and beautiful DaVinci Resolve), but none for the payment processing credit card company cosplaying as a software company like Adobe.

At the base pricing of $70/mo for all apps, or just $23/mo for Premiere Pro, you can buy almost 3 DaVinci Resolves in one year, or 93% of one DaVinci Resolve for 1 year.

Absolutely. Incredible. Thank. You. Adobe.

I used Final Cut Pro’s auto beat detection feature for work, and it’s been extremely helpful. I’d love to have this feature in Premeire.

Or even just the ability to define the grid by user defined BPM

Adobe please include an automated beat counter/marker in Premiere Pro in the next update. I'd rather not have to shell out $100 to purchase someone's plug-in when I'm paying for Creative Cloud.

FWIW: This thread was started about a year ago and has 28 upvotes, not much really, 2-ish a month. ?

FWIW this thread was combined a year ago from a decade of other threads because users have realized that Adobe doesn’t give a damn, and majority are moving to DaVinci Resolve or purchasing 3rd party plugins and giving up on approaching this subject in the community forums entirely.

@efficient_person1243 I merged your post (and several others on the same topic) into this idea request. We are listening to customer's requests for this feature (and others) but I don't have any to share publicly on a possible release date.

Unrelated, you mentioned "accessible color theory" in your last post. In v25.2, we did release an entirely new color management system for Premiere Pro. If you have questions or comments about that, please start a new thread in the Discussions section of the forum. New color management is a foundation upon which we are buiding on; stayed tuned.

Regards,

Fergus
