Import text based script for timed text/captions or to reconcile/correct auto-generated text

There is also no feature that allows Premiere Pro to import a text-based script, and then time the text in the script to the audio in the timeline.

In addition, speech-to-text functionality currently does not have the ability to compare auto-generated text against a script, and then replace auto-generated text with the correct words from the script.

Use case/context: Scripted content (or talking heads) where the script is available and subtitles and/or captions are required as a deliverable.  Manual reconciliation between the script and auto-generated text is required.

I'm looking for the best of both worlds - Premiere's ability for auto-timing, while using a script as the basis for the text content.

Keep up the good work!

Hi @Stan Jones :

I appreciate the insight and context. I've heard from multiple folks that this has been discussed with various members of the Adobe team, so with any luck it will make its way into the app.

I'll test with your workaround.

Thanks again!

@mkammes,

Yes, this is a needed option. The relatively new "Import corrected transcript" may provide a workaround. The external transcript must match the audio in PR. For example, if the transcript is of a source clip, and you have 3 such clips in your sequence, you would do the process for the source clip transcription.

In this post, see the method that starts with "With the new 'Import Corrected Transcript' ... "

I do not have good external transcripts for testing. Let us know if you try this. I use macros in Notepad++ to simplify the preparation of the external transcript.
