Metadata display of audio channel names embedded in imported poly WAV files

Most poly WAVs include metadata about track information like kind of mic used, names of characters, etc. E.g. TX, BOOM, MS. This data is unavailable in the metadata display in PP. Would be great to add this to the default metadata options.

how come this feature request is 3 years old and we still dont have this common feature… Adobe team, get your stuff together. For time to time it really feels that you dont use this software actually.

Cutting a roundtable, 6 lavs — wish I could see each person's name on the tracks!

I'm seeing productions switching back from premiere to avid in part for this reason. It's a shame...

No reason not to weigh in on this. About to be August of 2025 and still nothing here. I don't want to edit in Da Vinci, but at this point what choice do we have? My sound team did a great job and not being able to use their labeling is a sad state of affairs. Another huge knock against Adobe.

Still waiting for this update in 2025.... it's a pretty basic and integral part of a post workflow that's missing!

Insane this is still not a thing 2 years after this original post.

Another disappointed sound editor chiming in here. iXML Renamer for Premiere Pro seems like a good workaround however, I'd be concerned about renaming audio files as sound editors often refer back to the original audio files from the production sound team (eg. searching for alt lines etc...).

Premiere Pro needs to be able to read the BWF metadata, and add show Audio Track Names alongside Audio Clip Names in the spanner menu. This would give video editors half a chance to edit sound with the correct microphones / mixes, and ensure the metadata is passed on via AAF.

It is ridiculous that this is still not a standard feature in Premiere. However, there is a Third Party tool by Editing Prep that allows you to rename the audio files names from iXML data with the click of a button:

https://editingprep.com/ixmlrenamer/

While this tool is fantastic, is does not excuse Adobe from implementing a much better system for displaying iXML data on audio track names. For now, we will make do with this.

Responding to bump this and hopefully keep this idea going along. It's silly this isn't a feature. I'm having to load my audio in Resolve, take a screenshot, and then (if I've time), rename the track names in my Premiere multicam timelines (aka my syncs).

Premiere's handling of audio in general leaves a lot to be desired. From waveforms not showing up, to channel assignments being clunky and cumbersome to handle. It's the achilles heel of Premiere. Makes you wonder about the designation "Pro".
