It would be useful to be able to move the captions all the way to the bottom of the screen.

YES YES YES

This is first and foremost, a creation tool. We all use it for different workflows. Safe margins are not necessary in every workflow, and the inability to override them makes it unusable for some.

An override would be perfect. Just let us put it anywhere we want.

Francis, an override option (toggle with default to on = safe limits and option for off = no restrictions on x/y positioning) would address the behavior most users expect, but with the control that some users want.

The problem would be less significant if caption tracks were subject to Effect Controls. In versions prior to PR 15, some users got around this limitation by using Effect Controls. And there are other requests that address various limitations of the new caption workflow that are due to a caption track not being subject to Effect Controls. But the new workflow should really address these without resorting to Effect Controls for workarounds.

See this post that elaborated on Shane Andries method below using nesting to provide for some of that functionality.

The solve for me was to create a nest of my full sequence, and then toggle off all tracks except for captions. Then, paste back the other content and you can use "effects control" to adjust the nested clip (which contains the captions). You’re essentially nesting the captions so you can move them out of the captions track and onto a regular track so you can make use of the effects controls.

Shane, what's the hack that you are using. I'd like to give it a try.

Agreed. I had to create a “hack” to move the captions all the way to the bottom.

From my testing, the captions will not go all the way to the bottom of the screen. They will only go so far and stop. Am I missing something? Thanks
